Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' Gets Winning Response From Early Screening
Mumbai, August 10 - Back in 2012, Akshay Kumar-headlined social comedy-drama "Oh My God - OMG" which not only won critical acclaim but also emerged as a box office success. Now, a decade later, the superstar is returning with the film's sequel which revolves around sex education in India.
In the first movie, Akshay plays the role of Lord Krishna, and this time, he is making an appearance as Lord Shiva's messenger while Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam feature in prominent roles along with Arun Govil and Pawan Malhotra.
Being a sequel to a super successful movie there was added pressure on the makers to stay true to its legacy and it seems, director Amit Rai has delivered what it was promised. The movie had its special screening from which the response is nothing but extraordinary.
Renowned critic, Taran Adarsh hails OMG 2 as a "Courageous, bold, brave, and progressive" film. He lauds the film's captivating plot, gripping screenwriting, and solid dialogues as well as the solid impact of the towering performances by Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Pawan Malhotra.
Himesh Mankad, a journalist at Pinkvilla, calls the movie "a well-intentioned film that has its heart at the right place. The film educates without getting too preachy and points at the biggest W for the film is its ability to engage and entertain despite falling in the bracket of a 'Taboo'".
Senior journalist Sudhir Chaudhary found OMG 2, "a path-breaking film on sex education, a subject we avoid speaking about in our homes and schools". He highlights Akshay Kumar's comedy with a lovely message and lauds the actor for picking a very bold attempt and handling a complex subject with a lot of maturity, and conviction.
Film producer Amar Butala sends a big shout-out to the team and calls it "both an IMPORTANT and ENTERTAINING film! A worthy successor to the first part!"

Produced by Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios, and Wakaoo Films, "OMG 2" is releasing tomorrow (August 11) in cinemas worldwide.
