All-Time Blockbuster 'Border' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection

Mumbai, June 13 - It has been 27 years since Sunny Deol headlined epic war drama Border released on the big screens. Hailed as one of the greatest war movies of all time, it was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and is based on the events of the Battle of Longewala (1971).

Border was a massive success at the box office and emerged as the second highest-grossing Indian movie of 1997 with a worldwide gross collection of approximately 55.50 crores, including approximately 53.10 crores gross at the Indian box office (collection without adjusting with inflation). In India, it was the highest-grossing film of the year, ahead of Dil To Pagal Hai (47.25 crores gross)



Directed by JP Dutta, Border, apart from its mega box office success, garnered critical acclaim for its story, execution, scale, showing off the battle, direction, screenplay, performances, and soundtrack. It won several awards and went on to earn cult status over the years for its immense popularity on television.
