Box Office: Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' Nears 150 Crores Net Domestically
Mumbai, September 8 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's A-rated social comedy drama film OMG 2 has emerged as big box office hit at the domestic as well as overseas. Directed by Amit Rai, the movie has already crossed the 200 crores gross mark at the global box office, and now, it is heading to 150 crores domestic net collection.
OMG 2 had a good 4th week despite the heavy competition as it scored approximately 7.40 crores net, dropping just around 52% from the third week which is very good hold. This takes the total collection to around 149.25 crores net in 28 days and it could add another 1-2 crores more to take its total past 150 crores mark.
The film dropped heavily on the last day (4th Thursday) of the 4th week due to the arrival of Shah Rukh Khan-fronted "Jawan" which took most the screens away of the movie, plus the holdovers are also performing really well. Nonetheless, OMG 2 has done its job despite releasing with the age restriction by the censor board.
OMG 2 also has a good outing at the overseas box office with gross collection approximately 43 crores, which helped the worldwide cume of the movie to reach over 219 crores gross. It is the highest-grossing Akshay Kumar movie since "Sooryavanshi" and the highest-ever for Pankaj Tripathi as well as for director Amit Rai of all-time.
