Box Office: 'Animal' First Day Early Estimates; Gigantic Start

Mumbai, December 1 - Animal takes the second biggest opening for an outright Bollywood movie at the domestic box office and exceeds expectations. The gangster action drama recorded solid occupancies throughout the day, despite being an adult-rated film.

According to early estimates, Animal has scored around 50 crores net collection in the original Hindi version. It might go higher depending on the single screens which remains to see. It is the biggest opening for an "A" rated Indian title by a huge margin and also easily the biggest opening for Ranbir as well as the rest of the cast and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.



The start for Animal is extraordinary everywhere, especially in Hindi and Telugu. The dubbed Telugu version opened the double-digit mark territory for a Bollywood title as it scored an estimated 10 crores net and might go higher depending on the final collection. The other versions scored approx. 1 crore net.

Animal has set up itself for a mammoth weekend. The initial word of mouth for the film is highly positive and advances for Saturday and Sunday are one of the highest for an Indian title of 2023. The all-India opening weekend is looking to be over 175 crores net and can go up to 200 crores net.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur was also released today and has taken a decent start. The film was badly hit by Animal phenomena which took all the limelight. The early estimates suggest the opening of Sam Bahadur in the range of 5-6 crores which could have easily been around 15 crores if it were a solo release.

The initial word of mouth for Sam Bahadur seems to be good which can help to score around 25 crores net opening weekend and might go up to 30 crores if it gets the required jump over the weekend.
