Box Office: Black Panther 2 Races Past $500 Million Worldwide

Los Angeles, November 21 - Marvel Studios' latest blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office at the end of the second weekend.

The superhero movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, was the number one movie at the domestic (North American) box office for the second weekend in a row. It grossed $67.3 million in its second weekend in North America, pushing total domestic cum to $288 million in 10 days.



The drop for "Black Panther 2" was around 63% which is higher than the first Black Panther movie but relatively low as compared to the recent Marvel tentpoles, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and "Thor: Love and Thunder" which posted declines in the 67 percent range.

At the international box office, the sequel grossed $258.3 million after approx. $70 million in the second weekend from 50 markets, pushing total global cume to over half a billion at $546.3 million. As per Deadline, the drop was just 49% overseas on the second weekend which is better than the majority of other MCU titles for the same suite of markets.

Despite the heavy first two weekends at the worldwide box office, "Black Panther 2" is nowhere close to its predecessor as Hollywood analysts are predicting it to be wrapped under $1 billion at around $850 million. "Black Panther" (2018) had grossed a staggering $1.34 billion in its lifetime run and is one of the highest-grossing solo superhero movies of all time.

The Top 10 markets for "Black Panther 2" to date are - US & Canada ($288M), the UK ($27.1M), Mexico ($22.8M), France ($21.6M), Brazil ($14.2M), Korea ($14M), Australia ($12.5M), Germany ($11.1M), Indonesia ($10.1M), and India ($9.5M).
