Box Office Blockbuster 'Amaran' Sets Streaming Release Date

Chennai, November 30 - Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has taken a giant step towards becoming the next big star in Tamil cinema with his latest war action drama film Amaran which has emerged as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year and one of the biggest in recent times.

Released on October 31, the Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial has bossed the box office, grossing approximately 325 crores worldwide in 30 days so far. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time.



Amaran has benefitted from the extended theatrical window which has been normalized to just 4 weeks by the industry. The blockbuster run of the film prompted the makers to extend the window by 1 more week and it will now arrive after 35 days which is the first for a recent Tamil title.

On Saturday (November 30), Netflix announced that Amaran would start streaming from December 5, which is 35 days after the theatrical release. It will be streaming in all 5 languages, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.

Produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, in association with Sony Pictures Films India, the film is an adaptation of the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which contains a segment based on Major Mukund Varadarajan, played by Sivakarthikeyan.

The film follows Indhu Rebecca Varghese (Sai Pallavi), Mukund's wife, who narrates the life of the Major on her way to New Delhi to receive the Ashoka Chakra, which was awarded posthumously to Mukund.
