Box Office: 'Deadpool and Wolverine' Becomes The Highest-Grossing Film In The Franchise
Mumbai, August 5 - Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-fronted superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine has surpassed $800 million at the worldwide box office, and with this, it has become the highest-grossing film in the Deadpool franchise, beating Deadpool 2.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the 34th Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) tentpole has grossed $824 million (6905 crores) through the second weekend, surpassing the entire theatrical runs of 2016's Deadpool ($783 million) and 2018s Deadpool 2 ($786 million) as the top grosser in the franchise.
Domestically (North America), Deadpool 3 has grossed $395.6 million (3315 crores) in just 10 days. It has become the highest-grossing R-rated film in North America after beating The Passion Of The Christ which scored $371 million in 2004.
At the overseas box office, the third Deadpool instalment has minted $428.5 million (3590 crores) over 52 markets. China continued to lead the international chart for the movie with $45.2 million, followed by the United Kingdom ($42.4 million), Mexico ($32.8 million), Australia ($24.6 million), and Germany ($19 million). In India, the movie has grossed an excellent $16+ million in 10 days.
Deadpool 3 is the third highest-grossing R-rated film of all time at the worldwide box office, behind only Oppenheimer ($975 million), and Joker ($1.07 billion). By next week, it become the biggest adult-rated grosser ever by beating both the current top 2 blockbusters.
