Box Office: 'Devara: Part 1' Opening Day/First Friday Early Estimates
Hyderabad, September 27 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's action drama Devara: Part 1 has set the box office on fire to score one of the biggest openings for an Indian movie at the domestic box office, and by far the biggest solo start for the actor.
The movie recorded sensational pre-sales which led to the foundation of a monstrous start and after the early morning and midnight shows, where it scored decent word of mouth, Devara was unstoppable throughout the day with excellent occupancies, especially in Telugu states.
According to early estimates, Devara is looking to gross 70+ crore in two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) which is easily one of the biggest starts there. In Karnataka, the movie is expected to gross in the range of 10-11 crores and an estimated 2.50 crore gross is expected in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Devara surprises in the Hindi belt with the better-than-expected opening. The movie scored decent pre-sales in Hindi which indicated in the mid-single digit score. However, due to decent word of mouth, the spot booking got a boost. Per estimates, the film scored 7+ crore net collection in Hindi (8.25+ crore gross) which is a good start.
Overall, Devara is estimated to gross around 90 crores (77 crores net) collection on its opening day which is the second biggest of the year after Kalki 2898 AD. While the opening is sensational, it needs to be seen how it performs over the weekend though it is expected to hold well due to word of mouth.
