Box Office: 'Dragon' Scored A Huge First Week Worldwide

Chennai, February 28 - The Tamil film industry has its first Blockbuster in the form of a coming-of-age comedy-drama Dragon. The film is headlined by the rising Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan who has also written the script with Ashwath Marimuthu.

Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Dragon has completed its first week, grossing approximately 77.50 crores at the worldwide box office. This already makes it the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2025, behind only Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi (136 crores gross).



Released on February 21, Dragon opened to super positive reviews and reception from the audience which led to the biggest opening for the actor with double-digit numbers worldwide. The movie showed impressive growth over the weekend and remained rock solid during the weekdays to put up huge box office numbers.

In India, the film has grossed approximately 58 crores, including over 39.50 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. The movie has also emerged as a success in Telugu states with over 10.75 crores gross collection. Overseas, Dragon has minted approximately 19.50 crores for a worldwide cume total of 77.50 crores.

Dragon is certain to enter the 100 crores gross club worldwide in the second weekend and may go on to top Vidaamuyarchi to become the biggest Tamil grosser of the year to date. This is the second back-to-back blockbuster for Ranganathan after Love Today (2022). Interestingly, Dragon is the actor's only second film as a lead hero and he has also directed Love Today along with Ravi Mohan's Comali (2019) which was also a big box office success.
