Box Office: 'Inside Out 2' Overtakes Original Film's Full Run As It Nears $1 Billion Worldwide
Mumbai, June 29 - Disney's Pixar movie Inside Out 2 is racing towards $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and in this process, it has topped the full run of the first movie which grossed $859 million and the sequel crossed this in just 16 days.
The coming-of-age animated blockbuster grossed $863 million (7200 crores) through Thursday (June 27) and it topped $900 million by Friday (official data awaited). It has entered the all-time domestic (North America) animated Top 10 chart with $411.8 million (3435 crores) at the 9th spot.
Overseas, IO2 has grossed $451.3 million (3765 crores) from 45 markets through Thursday. The blockbuster will reach the $1 billion mark by Sunday to become the first film of 2024 and just the 12th animated movie of all time to achieve the feat.
The Top 10 overseas markets through Thursday (June 27) are as follows - Mexico ($71.1M), the UK ($32.9M), Korea ($32.2M), Brazil ($28M), Italy ($26.3M), Germany ($20.1M), Spain ($20M), Argentina ($17M), France ($17M) and China ($15.2M). In India, it has grossed approximately 23.50 crores ($2.80 million).
IO2 is projected to finish its full run with $1.4+ billion which will make it the third highest-grossing animated movie ever with a chance to finish at the 2nd spot with $1.5 billion ahead of Frozen 2 ($1.45 billion). The Lion King is currently the biggest animated grosser worldwide with $1.66 billion.
