Box Office: 'Interstellar' Becomes The Biggest Hollywood Re-Release Grosser In India
Mumbai, February 13 - Legendary director Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar re-release has proved to be a masterstroke for Warner Bros. Pictures as the movie has become the highest-grossing Hollywood re-release grosser at the Indian box office.
The film, starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, was re-released in Indian cinemas on February 7 for a limited period of just 7 days. This short run proved to be enough for the movie to beat the maverick director James Cameron's all-time great Titanic 3D re-release gross collection of 18 crores.
In the 6 days so far, Interstellar has grossed approximately 18+ crores, making it the number 1 Hollywood repeat title in India. In its original release back in 2014, the film was a big success with a gross collection of around 42 crores or $6.85 million (without adjusting to inflation), according to Box Office Mojo.
At the worldwide box office, Interstellar has grossed $759.4 million, including $681 million in its original run. In India, the total gross of the film stands at around 62+ crores collection after re-release grosses. It is one of the Nolan's biggest grossers.
