Box Office: Leo Becomes Highest-Grossing Tamil Movie In The UK

London, October 25 - Thalapathy Vijay's mega-blockbuster Leo has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time at the UK & Ireland box office. The Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial surpassed the lifetime total of superstar Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selva - 1" in just 6 days to claim the top spot.

The latest LCU hit has grossed £1.36 million (13.75 crores) in the UK in the first 6 days. "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" grossed £1.34 million in its lifetime run last year and was the first Tamil movie to cross the coveted £1 million mark in the UK. Superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" is the 3rd highest-grossing in the list with £1.33 million.



"Leo", distributed by Ahimsa Entertainment, is only the 3rd Tamil movie to cross the £1 million mark in the country, after "PS-1" and "Jailer", and interestingly, all three films in the last two years. Ahimsa Entertainment aggressively promoted the film in the UK and even opened the advances months before which did wonders for it as it scored the biggest pre-sales ever for an Indian movie there for the opening day.

Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" has been on a dominating box office run since its debut on October 19. In the first 6 days, it grossed a mighty approximately 458 crores worldwide, including approximately 165 crores at the overseas box office. It will cross the 500 crores gross mark by Friday and will become only the 3rd Tamil movie ever to achieve this milestone.
