Box Office: 'Leo' Opening Day Early Estimates; Takes A Historic Start
Chennai, October 19 - Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" has taken a historic start at the box office. The massive opening was assured with the kind of advance booking it scored and at the end of the day, it opened in the expected lines.
The all-India opening of the film is estimated to be around 75 crores gross. In Tamil Nadu, the opening is estimated to be around 30 crores gross. It could have easily been more had the early morning shows been allowed in the state but that wasn't the case, still, it has taken an excellent start.
In the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the movie has scored an estimated 15 crores gross, followed by 14 crores in Karnataka, and approx. 11 crores in Kerala. The rest of India's estimated collection is approx. 4 crores.
As reported earlier, "Leo" has become the first film ever to score a double-digit opening in each of the South Indian states (Andhra and Telangana combined). In Kerala, it is the first movie ever to score 10 crores or more for any day.
The worldwide opening of the film is around 140 crores, which is the biggest ever for a Tamil movie and the biggest of the year for an Indian title, as per the early estimates. It has comfortably beaten Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" which scored approx. 129 crores gross worldwide.
