Box Office Records Broken By 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'
Mumbai, December 21 - "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is fast pushing towards the $1 billion mark at the global box office without China release. The superhero film shattered many records during its opening weekend at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office.
Released over 61 markets including North America, the Tom Holland-fronted scored a mammoth $600.8 million at the global box office, including $260 million in the U.S. and Canada in just 5 days. The Marvel/Sony film is all set to be the first title in two years to gross $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
Directed by Jon Watts, the 3rd and last film in MCU's Homecoming trilogy, "No Way Home" cast also features Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, and Benedict Wong, while it also includes previous villain actors Willem Dafoe (2002's Spider-Man), Alfred Molina (2004's Spider-Man 2) and Jamie Foxx (2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2) alongside many surprise stars.

Highest-Grossing Film for Sony Pictures in India
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" grossed Rs. 138.55 crores ($18.3M) in just 4 days. It surpassed Sony's previous highest-grossing film in India, "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019), which grossed Rs. 102 crores ($13M) during its entire box office run. For a Hollywood title, "No Way Home" is the second biggest launch in India after "Avengers: Endgame".
Biggest Worldwide Opening of All Time for Sony's Columbia Pictures
With a $600.8 million worldwide debut, "No Way Home" becomes Sony's number 1 film at the global box office after opening weekend. "Spider-Man 3" in 2007 was the previous biggest with $381.7 million.
Biggest December Opening of All Time
"No Way Home" is now become the highest-grossing film during its opening weekend for a film released in December month. It overstepped "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which opened to $529 million in 2015.
Third-Biggest Worldwide Opening of All Time
After "Avengers: Endgame" ($1.2 billion) and "Avengers: Infinity War" ($640.5 million), "No Way Home" has taken the 3rd spot in the biggest worldwide opening of all time. It supplanted "The Fate of the Furious" ($541.9 million) to take the No. 3 spot.
Second-Biggest North America Debut of All Time
"Avengers: Endgame" leads the list of top openings with $357 million. "No Way Home" edged out "Avengers: Infinity War" ($257.6 million) to place second with $260 million.
Only Spider-Man Live Action Film To Get A+ CinemaScore
"No Way Home" is the only Spider-Man film and overall, the fourth live-action superhero film to receive the coveted audience grade after The Avengers, Black Panther, and Avengers: Endgame.
