Box Office: Shaitaan Second Day/First Saturday Early Estimates
Mumbai, March 9 - After a very good start at the box office with close to 15 crores net, Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural thriller Shaitaan jumps by over 20% on Saturday which is again a very good result for a thriller genre, backed by positive word of mouth.

On its second day/first Saturday, Shaitaan scored an estimated 18-19 crores net collection, pushing the total to around 33 crores net in two days. The first weekend is heading to be around 55 crores which is a fantastic collection.

The jump of over 20% today is quite impressive as it came after a partial holiday on the film's first day due to Maha Shivratri which boasted the collection. The thriller genre is something which lacks ground in mass centres but here, the Ajay Devgn factor is working wonderfully and the movie is also doing well outside multiplexes.

The longevity of Shaitaan lies on its Monday hold but early signs are promising and in all probability, the movie is up for a very good ride at the box office. The 100 crores net club will be the minimum target for the movie.

Meanwhile, Yami Gautam-fronted political thriller Article 370 sees a big jump of over 60% on its 3rd Saturday for an estimated 2.50-2.75 crores net. The total collection of the movie stands at 62+ crores after 16 days.

Stay tuned...

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 8 - The June 5-7 weekend delivered a healthy mix of blockbuster opening and strong holdover performances at the Indian box office. Leading the pack was Ram Charan's Peddi, which emerged as the undisputed winner of the weekend with a sensational 104.50 crore gross during its Friday to Sunday frame. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) After the opening weekend collection of 82.50 crores gross (including premieres), the sports action drama remained solid in the Friday to Sunday frame, dominating the market share by already emerging as one of Ram Charan's biggest grossers at the Indian box office, with a 4-day Indian gross collection of around 187 crores. Meanwhile, David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai scored a decent opening weekend. The romantic comedy opened to negative to mixed reviews, but somehow managed to stay steady over the weekend. The film took the opening of 9 crore gross and remained flat on Saturday before the big jump on Sunday for a respectable weekend. The film's fate lies in Monday's hold, which is crucial for its box office success. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The biggest talking point of the weekend, however, was the phenomenal hold displayed by Obsession. The horror thriller grossed a stunning 21 crore in its second weekend, recording a massive jump of 125% from the opening frame and proving that positive word-of-mouth is driving its box office run. The film has quickly transformed into one of the season's surprise success stories and is expected to continue performing strongly in the coming days. Rounding out the top five were Blast and Deool Band 2. The action entertainer Blast earned 11.50 crore over the weekend, while the Marathi blockbuster Deool Band 2 added another 8.45 crore to its tally. Together, the five films generated over 175+ crores gross at the domestic box office in the June 5-7 frame, making the first weekend of June one of the strongest periods at the box office this year. Bhooth Bangla 8th Weekend: Movie Collects 0.37 Cr; Set to Finish as Akshay Kumar's 3rd Highest Post-Covid Grosser

BY SACNILK

It is quite impressive to see how Bhooth Bangla has settled into a remarkably long run as it concludes its eighth weekend in theaters. This horror-comedy marks the highly anticipated reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, a duo that has historically defined the genre in Hindi cinema. The film follows a familiar yet engaging spooky-funny premise that has clearly struck a chord with the family audience. While the box office windows have become increasingly congested with new arrivals like Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai taking over the majority of screens, this veteran performer is showing incredible grit to stay relevant more than fifty days after its release. Analyzing the cumulative data for the eighth weekend, we see a movie that is making the most of its remaining 623 shows. The weekend began on Day 50 with a low of 0.07 Crore net, but as Saturday arrived, the film found its footing with a 42.9 percent jump to reach 0.10 Crore. The real surprise came on Sunday, where it recorded a massive 100 percent growth to collect 0.20 Crore net. Over these three days, the film maintained an average occupancy that climbed from 13 percent on Friday to a peak of 28 percent on Sunday, proving that there is still a dedicated audience seeking out this specific title during their holiday breaks. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Bhooth Bangla 8th Weekend India Net Collection DAY NET COLLECTION SHOW COUNT OCCUPANCY Day 50 (8th Fri) ₹ 0.07 Cr 215 13.0% Day 51 (8th Sat) ₹ 0.10 Cr 196 19.0% Day 52 (8th Sun) ₹ 0.20 Cr 212 28.0% 8th Weekend Total ₹ 0.37 Cr 623 20.0% (Avg) The film's performance in national chains also stayed noteworthy for such a late stage in its theatrical life. Over the eighth weekend, more than 1,900 tickets were sold across PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. On Sunday alone, the chains contributed significantly to the footfalls; PVR saw 690 tickets sold, followed by 400 at INOX and 130 at Cinepolis. These rounded figures show that even with a reduced footprint, the film is maintaining a presence in premium urban centers, helping it edge closer to the final stages of its run. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) When we look at the global picture, the total India gross has now climbed to 215.17 Crore, while the India net total stands at 181.67 Crore. With a steady overseas gross contribution of 53.75 Crore, the cumulative worldwide total has now reached a monumental 268.92 Crore. This journey has involved a staggering 242,964 shows across its lifetime, showing the massive scale of its release and the endurance it has displayed against multiple waves of new competition. Perhaps the most significant achievement this weekend is the film's success on the booking platform BookMyShow. With a total of 33.82 lakh tickets sold, the movie has officially surpassed the lifetime BMS records of major hits like OMG 2, which stood at 3 million, and Housefull 5, which recorded 2.40 million. As the theatrical run winds down ahead of its OTT release on June 12, the film currently sits in the third position of Akshay Kumar's post-covid hunt. It still needs to collect 1.71 crore to beat the India net of Housefull 5( 183.38 Cr), but even if it crosses that domestic milestone, it will not be able to overtake the massive worldwide total of Housefull 5(288.67 Cr) to claim the second spot. Consequently, it is set to finish as the third-highest global grosser for the actor in the post-pandemic era, with Sooryavanshi (293 Cr) remaining the undisputed number one.

Cocktail 2 Tops IMDb's Real-Time Most-Anticipated Indian Movie List of 2026

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 6 - The excitement surrounding Cocktail 2 is reaching new heights as the upcoming romantic entertainer has secured the top spot on IMDb's real-time list of the most anticipated Indian movies and shows of 2026. The film has emerged as the most-viewed and discussed upcoming Indian title on the platform, underlining the genuine interest it has generated among audiences ahead of its release. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, Cocktail 2 is one of Bollywood's biggest releases of 2026. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film serves as a spiritual successor to the 2012 cult romantic drama Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. Strong Buzz Ahead Of Release (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film has been creating waves ever since its announcement. The combination of a popular franchise title, a fresh star cast, and a contemporary romantic storyline has helped Cocktail 2 become one of the most talked-about projects in the industry at the moment, and the recently released trailer has amplified the buzz. IMDb's real-time rankings are based on user engagement and page visits, making the achievement a reflection of genuine audience curiosity. The film, scheduled to release on June 19, currently has a 21% page view share on IMDb, while Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle, which will release a week later, is currently in the 6th with over 7% page view share. One of the biggest attractions of the film is its lead cast. Shahid Kapoor reunites with Kriti Sanon after the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, while Rashmika Mandanna joins the duo in what is expected to be a modern love story packed with romance, drama, and music. The film is backed by Maddock Films and Luv Films, two banners known for delivering successful commercial entertainers. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Can It Live Up To The Expectations? While topping IMDb's anticipation chart is a significant achievement, the real test will come when the film arrives in theatres. The original Cocktail remains one of Bollywood's most loved romantic dramas, and expectations from the sequel are naturally high. With strong online traction, a star-studded cast, and growing audience interest, Cocktail 2 appears to be building substantial momentum ahead of its theatrical release. If the current buzz is any indication, the film could emerge as one of the biggest Bollywood attractions of 2026.

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has officially cemented its status as one of the biggest cinematic events in Indian history. Following the massive success of the first installment, the sequel has not only met but exceeded the high expectations set by fans. With a gripping narrative and high-octane action, the film has managed to sustain its theatrical run for over eleven weeks, a feat that is rarely seen in today’s fast-paced box office environment. As the movie enters its twelfth weekend, all eyes are on a major domestic milestone that is now just a few lakhs away. The journey of this sequel has shown how much staying power a film can have when the audience connects with the content. After a massive start in its opening week, the movie has maintained a consistent presence in theaters across the country. Currently, the cumulative India net collection stands at 1,149.02 crore, which means the project is now less than a crore away from hitting the 1,150 crore milestone. It is highly likely that this target will be reached before the end of the following week. The Hindi version alone has contributed over 1,080 crore to the total net. During Week 11, the film added another 0.82 crore to its tally. While the numbers are naturally smaller at this stage, the fact that it is still running across 233 shows on its 77th day shows the level of interest that still exists. Throughout the week, the average occupancy stayed around 15 percent, with weekend spikes reaching as high as 21 percent on Sunday and 20 percent on Saturday. This steady footfall has propelled the film to a massive worldwide gross of 1,813.11 crore, with the overseas market contributing a substantial 438 crore. Since its debut, the sequel has been showcased across more than 5.27 lakh shows globally, a clear indicator of its incredible scale and endurance.

Alpha Release Date: Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh Kick off Promotion Ahead of July 3 Release

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 4 - The promotional campaign for Yash Raj Films' Alpha has officially begun. With just a month left before its theatrical release, the makers of the much-awaited spy thriller have started building momentum for what is expected to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of 2026. Headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, Alpha is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on July 3, 2026, though the new date is yet to be confirmed officially. The film was initially slated for a July 10 release but was later advanced by a week, giving it a wider box office window and allowing the makers to capitalise on the mostly open run. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As anticipation continues to grow, the film's promotional activities are expected to intensify over the coming weeks. Fans can look forward to character posters, songs, interviews, and the highly anticipated theatrical trailer. It is said that the makers are preparing a large-scale marketing campaign to match the film's ambitious scale and franchise value. Alpha holds special significance as it is the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, a franchise that has delivered several blockbuster successes over the years. The film marks a major step forward for the universe by placing two female agents at the centre of a high-stakes espionage thriller. The film promises a blend of large-scale action, intense drama, and espionage elements that have become synonymous with the Spy Universe brand. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film also carries significant box office expectations. Following the massive success of some of the earlier Spy Universe titles, the trade is closely watching Alpha to see whether it can continue the franchise's winning streak while establishing a new generation of action heroes. With promotions now underway and excitement steadily building among audiences, Alpha is poised to become one of the most talked-about releases of the year. The coming weeks are expected to reveal more details about the film's story, characters, and action set pieces as the countdown to July 3 officially begins. If successful, Alpha could not only strengthen the YRF Spy Universe but also pave the way for more female-led action spectacles in mainstream Hindi cinema.

Bandar Showcasing Conflict: Zee Studios Puts Multiplex Release on Hold Amid Screen-Sharing Battle

BY SACNILK

The upcoming weekend at the box office is shaping up to be quite chaotic, with multiple releases fighting for space in theaters. While we recently saw Scary Movie get delayed, other titles like Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and the Hindi version of Peddi are currently locked in a screen-sharing struggle. The latest film to join this conflict is the Bobby Deol-starrer Bandar. According to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama, Zee Studios has decided to put the film's showcasing on hold across national multiplex chains until a fair distribution agreement is reached. The root of the problem lies in how shows are being distributed among the new releases. Sources inform that the makers of Bandar had a very specific and modest request for their release. They asked for about 3 to 4 shows in multiplexes with 4 or 5 screens, specifically for timings after 1 pm. This was designed to cater to their target audience while acknowledging the heavy rush of other films. However, because national chains like PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis are directly involved in distributing the competing films, Bandar has reportedly been offered a much smaller and less favorable showcasing than expected. Zee Studios has taken a firm stand on this issue, choosing to halt the programming in these major chains rather than accepting what they consider an unfair deal. Girish Johar, the Distribution and Revenue Head at Zee Studios, spoke with Bollywood Hungama and explained that their strategy was never about a massive, wide release. Instead, they planned for a smart release on roughly 500 to 600 screens. The logic was to build the film's presence through positive word of mouth, allowing it to have a long run at the box office rather than a crowded opening day. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The team behind Bandar also pointed out that the runtime of the film is a manageable 130 minutes, making it easier to fit into a tight schedule. There is also a belief within the team that the advance sales for the competing films are not high enough to justify the lopsided show allotment they are currently seeing. By putting the showcasing on hold, the producers are hoping to negotiate a better window that gives the film a genuine chance to reach its core audience. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen if the national chains will adjust the programming before the Friday release. For now, the strategy for Bandar remains focused on quality over quantity, with the hope that once the shows are sorted, the film can prove its worth through audience feedback. Bandar, which is titled Monkey in a Cage for international markets, is an intense crime thriller directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Nikhil Dwivedi. The film features Bobby Deol in a gritty role as a fading television star who finds himself caught in a corrupt legal battle after being accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend. Before its global theatrical release on June 5, 2026, by Zee Studios, the film earned significant critical attention during its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025. Given the prestige of its festival run and the heavy themes involved, the makers are clearly banking on the quality of the content to sustain it through the upcoming competitive weekend.

Bhooth Bangla Day 48 Box Office: Horror Comedy Adds 0.50 Crore Net; Maintains Strong Legs in Seventh Week

BY SACNILK

Bhooth Bangla is now well into its seventh week, and the way it continues to pull in viewers after nearly 50 days is a clear sign of its strong legs at the box office. On its 48th day, the film earned 0.50 crore net in India, which is a standard mid-week dip of 16.7 percent from Tuesday's 0.60 crore. It is quite uncommon for a film in this genre to sustain interest for such an extended period, but the steady flow of viewers suggests it has successfully connected with the mass audience. The domestic total has now reached 180.95 crore net, showing a high level of consistency over its long journey. When we look at the gross figures, the India total stands at 214.32 crore. What is particularly impressive is that the film is still holding onto 1,581 shows daily, even after the arrival of several new releases. This indicates that there is still a niche audience in urban centers and mass pockets that continues to drive the numbers. On the global stage, the total overseas gross has settled at 53.75 crore. When combined with the India gross of 214.32 crore, the worldwide total for Bhooth Bangla currently stands at 268.07 crore. This run has been supported by an extensive theatrical presence in the domestic market, where the film has played over 2.41 lakh shows across India since its opening day. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In terms of audience engagement on digital platforms, the movie saw approximately 6,800 tickets sold on BookMyShow this Wednesday. This is a noticeable drop from the 14,800 tickets sold on Tuesday, but it still brings the total ticket count on the platform to over 33.82 lakh. Looking at the regional performance, the National Capital Region remains a primary contributor with 245 shows and an occupancy of nearly 10 percent. Other markets like Ahmedabad are seeing a slower pace, with 93 shows recording around 6 percent occupancy. National multiplex chains contributed about 24 lakh gross on Day 48, with nearly 12,600 tickets being sold across these major outlets. The occupancy in these chains hovered around the 4 percent mark, which is standard for a Wednesday in the seventh week. As Bhooth Bangla prepares to enter its eighth weekend, the focus will be on how much more it can add to its 180.95 crore domestic net before it finally moves toward its digital premiere.

Cocktail 2 Budget Breakdown: 150 Crore Landing Cost for Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon Starrer

BY SACNILK

The anticipation for Cocktail 2 has been building steadily since its announcement, especially with the fresh trio of Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film is being positioned as a premium big-screen entertainer rather than a standard romantic comedy. Recent reports from Bollywood Hungama have now shed light on the massive financial scale of this project, revealing that Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films are treating this as one of their most ambitious releases to date. According to the budget breakdown provided by Bollywood Hungama, the landing cost for Cocktail 2 has reached a substantial 150 crore. This figure includes a production cost of 95 crore, which is significantly higher than the average spend for the rom-com genre in India. A major portion of this budget has been utilized for extensive 70-day filming schedules across various international locations, particularly in Europe. The aim is to provide a lavish visual experience that justifies a theatrical visit, a strategy Maddock has been successfully using with their recent hits. The talent associated with the film also commands a significant share of the investment. The combined fees for the lead actors—Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna—are reported to be around 35 crore. Additionally, the makers have allocated 20 crore for print and publicity to ensure a grand marketing campaign ahead of its June 19 release. When you sum up the production, talent, and marketing costs, the total investment hits the 150 crore mark, placing it in the same league as high-budget urban entertainers like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Romantic comedies in Hindi cinema have rarely been mounted on such a grand scale. While the original Cocktail was produced for around 30–35 crore and Love Aaj Kal (2020) was budgeted in the 45–60 crore range, recent films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar pushed the genre into bigger-budget territory. Cocktail 2 now joins that league with a reported 150 crore landing cost, reflecting the makers' intent to deliver a premium theatrical experience rather than a conventional rom-com. From a business perspective, the risk seems well-calculated. Maddock Films has built a strong reputation in the market with consistent hits like Stree 2 and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, which has helped them secure lucrative non-theatrical deals. It is estimated that nearly 50 percent of the total budget has already been recovered through pre-sales of digital, satellite, and music rights. This financial cushion allows the producers to be more aggressive with the theatrical presentation. The reunion of Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon is another factor working in the film's favor, especially after the success of their previous collaboration, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. By adding Rashmika Mandanna to the mix and bringing back Homi Adajania—who directed the original 2012 Cocktail—the makers are clearly looking to blend nostalgia with a modern, high-scale cinematic language. As the release date approaches, the focus will remain on whether this massive investment translates into a similar response at the box office.

Bhooth Bangla continues to tick along as it moves through its seventh week. On Tuesday, the movie collected about 0.60 Crore across India in net collections. This is actually a slight increase from Monday's collection of 0.50 Crore, representing roughly 20 percent growth. Seeing a small midweek bump like this on the forty-seventh day is an interesting trend for the film as it maintains its theatrical presence. With this latest addition, the total India net collection for Bhooth Bangla now stands at 180.45 Crore. When we look at the gross figures, the domestic total has reached 213.74 Crore. The film has also performed consistently in international markets, contributing an overseas gross of 53.75 Crore. Combining these figures, the worldwide gross collection has now climbed to 267.49 Crore. It has been a long and successful journey for the film, which has now been screened across nearly 240,000 shows since its release. The ticket sales data from BookMyShow also reflects this midweek jump. While around 8,280 tickets were booked on the seventh Monday, that number nearly doubled on Tuesday with approximately 14,860 tickets sold. This brings the cumulative ticket sales on the platform to over 33.75 Lakhs. The theater count remains respectable as well, with the film playing in 1,568 shows on its forty-seventh day. On Tuesday, the three major chains recorded a combined total of over 27,000 ticket sales from around 550 shows, with an overall occupancy of 26 percent. PVR led the numbers with 12,580 tickets sold at an occupancy of 28.6 percent. INOX followed with 10,890 tickets at 25.2 percent occupancy, and Cinepolis added another 10,890 tickets with an occupancy of 21.9 percent. These figures show that urban audiences are still trickling in to watch the film in premium theaters. Regional performance also stays steady, particularly in the North. The National Capital Region (NCR) remains a stronghold, recording an overall occupancy of 25.5 percent across 238 shows. The evening and afternoon screenings in this region were particularly busy, with occupancy rates hitting 32 percent and 30 percent respectively. Ahmedabad also contributed with an occupancy of around 11.5 percent. As Bhooth Bangla continues to inch closer to the end of its seventh week, its ability to maintain these margins is keeping it relevant in the box office charts.
