Box Office: 'The Batman' Fly Past 'F9' To Become 4th Biggest Pandemic-Era Global Blockbuster
Mumbai, April 9 - Warner Bros. Pictures' high-flying DC superhero movie, "The Batman" has completed its 5th week at the box office, grossing over $721 million worldwide. The latest figure takes the movie past "Fast & Furious 9" to become the 4th biggest global blockbuster of the pandemic era.
The Robert Pattinson-fronted movie has grossed over $352 million at the domestic box office (North America) while overseas, it has minted approx. $370 million. It has become a global hit and outgrossed all other movies except "No Time to Die" ($774 million), China's "The Battle of Lake Changjin" ($905 million), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($1.89 billion) during the health crisis.
"The Batman" is expected to outscore James Bond "No Time To Die" to become the 3rd biggest grosser during the said time. In North America, "The Batman" has become the 4th DC movie to cross the $350 million mark and is projected to finish its lifetime run at around $390 million.
The movie, directed by Matt Reeves, sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
