Box Office: Top Gun Maverick Becomes Tom Cruise's Biggest Worldwide Grosser
Mumbai, June 17 - Paramount/Skydance's Top Gun Maverick has become the top-grossing film of Tom Cruise's career at the worldwide box office, outshining his previous biggest movie "Mission: Impossible — Fallout" (2018).
The sequel to 1986's pic made $806.3 million worldwide through Thursday (June 16). The numbers include $422.1 million domestically (North America) and $384.2 million at the worldwide box office, as per The Hollywood Reporter. "Top Gun 2" had already become the biggest domestic grosser of Cruise's career by crossing "War of the Worlds" ($243.3 million), and now it has topped worldwide score too. The movie has a shot to become the first $1 billion grosser for Cruise and it looks very much on track to reach the target.
The box office biz of "Top Gun 2" got boosted by strong positive word of mouth. As mentioned earlier, it is the top-rated movie of Cruise's career with 97% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes while moviegoers awarded the film with a coveted A+ CinemaScore.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film stars Tom Cruise as test pilot Maverick, alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer.
