Box Office: 'Vettaiyan' Tops 100 Crore Gross In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, October 26 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, has entered the 100 crores gross club at the Tamil Nadu box office, becoming the second movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time.

Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, Vettaiyan entered the 100 crore club in the state on its 17th day, third Saturday. It is the second back-to-back film of Rajinikanth (excluding Lal Salaam in which Rajinikanth played an extended appearance), after mega-blockbuster Jailer last year.



However, despite crossing 100 crores gross collection in the home state, Vettaiyna has underperformed at the box office, not meeting the pre-release expectations. It has been a struggle for the movie so far with around 250 crores gross worldwide.

In 16 days so far, the movie has minted approximately 166 crores in India and 80 crores overseas for approximately 246 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year but was expected to perform much better.
