'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva' Becomes First Bollywood Movie To Top Worldwide Box Office Weekend Chart
Mumbai, September 11 - Director Ayan Mukerji's fantasy action adventure movie, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva has truly set the box office on fire and topped the worldwide box office this weekend.
The Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer grossed an estimated $27.05 million (215 crores) in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, which was enough for it to become the number one movie during the weekend of September 9 - September 11.
This is the first time that a Bollywood film and overall third Indian film after Thalapathy Vijay's "Master" and SS Rajamouli's "RRR" has topped the worldwide box office weekend. At the domestic box office, "Brahmastra" has grossed an estimated 147 crores ($18.50M) while overseas, it has made an estimated 68 crores ($8.57M).
Meanwhile, at the USA box office, the Ancient Indian Astras-based film scored the 4th biggest opening weekend ever for an Indian film with an estimated $4.4 million from just 810 theaters. Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2" and "RRR", and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat" retained the first three spots with $10.4M, $9.5M, and $4.5 million, respectively.

1. Brahmastra Part One: Shiva - $27.05 million
2. Give Me Five - $21.50 million
3. Confidential Assignment 2: International - $19.50 million
