Chyna Could Have Become WWE Champion?
Joanie "Chyna" Laurer first rose to prominence in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1997, where she was billed as "The Ninth Wonder of the World" (André the Giant was already billed as the eighth).
Chyna is considered one of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era. Laurer met World Wrestling Federation (WWF) performers Paul "Triple H" Levesque and Shawn Michaels after a professional wrestling show in 1996. After watching tapes of her matches, they decided to bring her into the WWF as a bodyguard.
A founding member of the stable D-Generation X as the promotion's first female enforcer, she held the WWF Intercontinental Championship (the only female performer to do so) thrice and the WWF Women's Championship once.
While speaking on the recent edition of his podcast, Foley is Pod, Foley stated that there was a real possibility that Joanie absolutely could have become WWE Champion.
"I do. I do. I mean, look, Vince McMahon was World Champion. David Arquette was World Champion. Vince Russo was World Champion. Yeah, I think there's a very real chance that she could have."
