Director Locked For Alia Bhatt's Spy Universe Debut

Mumbai, February 2 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is all set to headline Yash Raj Films' first female-led-Spy Universe film. The actress will be playing the role of a super agent in the action-packed thriller alongside Sharvari Wagh who also made the Spy Universe debut.

Now, according to the reports, Aditya Chopra-headed YRF has locked director Shiv Rawail to helm this much-awaited film. Rawail recently directed YRF's debut web series "The Railway Man" which scored critical acclaim and was also a successful venture for Netflix.



The yet-untitled Spy movie will mark Rawail's feature film debut, however, he had previous stints as assistant director on Yash Raj Films productions "Dhoom 3", starring Aamir Khan, and "Fan", starring Shah Rukh Khan.

"Shiv's debut directorial for YRF, ‘The Railway Men,’ is a humongous hit and he is the talk of the town today. He is young and has a brilliant pulse on what the youth would want to consume as entertainment as is evident with the global success that he has delivered under the guidance of Aditya Chopra. Thus, Adi is confident that he is the best director to helm the young female-led action entertainer from the YRF spy universe that stars Alia Bhatt in the lead with the rising star of the industry, Sharvari", reports Variety.

YRF's Spy Universe kicked off with Salman Khan-fronted "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012), followed by "Tiger Zinda Hai" (2017), Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's "War" (2019), Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan", and the recently released "Tiger 3". The next in the offing is Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's "War 2" which begins filming this month. It will be followed by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari film which is expected to start shooting mid-this year.
