Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez Set Free On $1 Million Bail

Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez has been set free!

As noted, Cain spent eight months in jail on attempted murder charges but he has now been released on $1 million bail on Tuesday. The decision was made after 13 hours of a pre-trial hearing that stretched over two days.

On February 28, 2022, Velasquez allegedly shot at a man in Santa Clara County, California and hit an unintended victim. The man who Velasquez allegedly intended to shoot, Harry Goularte Jr., had been arrested prior to the shooting for allegedly committing child sexual abuse acts at a daycare attended by one of Velasquez's young relatives.

The incident began with Goulart being accused of sexually assaulting a young relative of Velasquez. Velasquez later claimed in a civil lawsuit that his own four-year-old son had also been sexually assaulted.

Cain Velasquez: 'It Was A Little Uncomfortable Planning The Match With Brock Lesnar'

Cain Velasquez hasn't much wrestled for WWE, but his match against Brock Lesnar is always one of the top things to discuss about. ## Velasquez made his WWE debut, accompanied by Rey Mysterio, coming out to confront and eventually attack Brock Lesnar after his WWE Championship victory as a measure of revenge for Lesnar attacking Mysterio and his son, Dominik, earlier in the week. ## Velasquez then went on to face Lesnar at Crown Jewel for the WWE Championship which Velasquez lost. WWE had forged a plan to use Velasquez at their Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, but he suffered an injury and the idea was scrapped. ## However, his wrestling contract came to an end when he was released from his WWE contract due to budget cuts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. ## During an appearance on Konnan’s podcast, WWE celebrity wrestler Cain Velasquez talked about his match against Brock Lesnar from the 2019 Crown Jewel PLE. ## “Yeah, professional and I would say it was a little uncomfortable [planning the match with Brock Lesnar]. I’m just so new to the wrestling world but everyone that I’ve worked with has been amazing as far as, you take care of everybody. We really do try to put in some good things in there where everyone gets what they want out of it and making it just for the fans. ## Working with Brock was interesting man, that’s all I’m gonna say. It was very different. You kind of just learn from your life and okay, this is what this was. I know for next time if something else ever happens for next time but… [Velasquez laughed]” ## “With Brock, that’s kind of what it was and again, the best thing about what I do now with wrestling is I can bring my family in and they’re true fans of it, you know? And that is the best.” ## Quotes courtesy of PostWrestling.com## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.
