Former Wrestler Billy Jack Haynes Charged With Murder of Wife
Former professional wrestler William "Billy Jack" Haynes Jr. has been charged with the murder of his wife, Janette Becraft, according to KOIN 6 News. Haynes was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, facing charges of murder in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
Haynes was initially taken into custody by police on February 8th at their home in Portland's Lents neighborhood. Authorities believed he was armed and issued shelter-in-place orders for the area. After a two-hour standoff, Haynes emerged from the residence and was detained. Inside, police discovered Becraft deceased. Her death was ruled a homicide by shotgun wound.
While Haynes' most prominent wrestling stint came in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1986 to 1988, feuding with wrestlers like Hercules Hernandez and even participating in a match at WrestleMania 3, he was a mainstay in the Portland wrestling scene for much of his career. He also wrestled briefly for WCW under the name Black Blood.
This arrest and the charges against Haynes mark a tragic turn of events for the former wrestler and his family.
