Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' Box Office Projections Revealed

Los Angeles, March 3 - Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is turning hot to continue the studio's box office winning streak after the latest Dune: Part 2 which has just started its box office journey on a blockbuster note worldwide.

Directed by Adam Wingard, the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is one of the most-anticipated Hollywood films of the year and the first box office projections also indicate the same as the movie is gearing up for its big screen debut on March 29 domestically (North America).



According to Box Office Pro, the Monsterverse movie is projected to score $41 million - $50 million domestically in the first weekend, a significant improvement of 30-60% over its predecessor which opened at $31.6 million. The total domestic forecast at the moment is $91 million - $140 million.

BO Pro reveals that the reunion of two monster-verse icons should attract genre fans as well as some casual moviegoers seeking a bona fide big-screen action film. The return of director Adam Wingard, who helmed 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, should also be a perk for die-hard fans.

Godzilla x Kong is the fifth film in the MonsterVerse, the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise, the 13th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla film to be completely produced by an American film studio. In the film, Godzilla and Kong must unite against an undiscovered threat that threatens the Hollow Earth and the surface.
