Hit 'Dream Girl 2' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection and Records

Mumbai, November 6 - Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, after a few flops over the last couple of years, finally scored a well-deserved box office success in the form of Dream Girl 2. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the comedy-drama is the spiritual sequel to the 2019 film "Dream Girl".

"Dream Girl 2" was released on October 25 this year amid some expectations of being the successor of a well-received critical and commercial film. There were still some doubts over the potential of the movie given the fact that Ayushmann was coming after 6 non-hits, plus, it released amid the box office juggernaut of "Gadar 2" and "OMG 2".



Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, "Dream Girl 2" received mixed to positive reception from critics and audiences but the strong franchise value helped it to score the biggest opening for Ayushmann with 10.69 crores net. While word of mouth wasn't great it still proved enough to sail the movie through as it went on to score 67 crores opening week collection.

The film managed to hold well in the second week to score over 28.50 crores net before another box office monster in the form of Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" arrived on September 7. Despite the continued challenges, "Dream Girl 2" kept enough gas in the tank to go past the 100 crores net mark while overseas it grossed over 16 crores to emerge as a box office hit against the production cost of approximately 75 crores.
