RAPO23: Is Srinidhi Shetty Joining Ram Pothineni's Directorial Debut?

BY SACNILK

Ram Pothineni is set to embark on the most ambitious phase of his career with his upcoming project, tentatively titled #RAPO23. In a significant move that has caught the industry's attention, the actor is taking full creative control by serving as both the writer and director for the first time. This transition places him in an elite category of Tollywood stars like Sr NTR, Krishna, and Pawan Kalyan, who have successfully balanced acting and directing their own visions. On the casting front, the project has reached a major milestone with Srinidhi Shetty being finalized as the female lead. The actress, who gained massive popularity through the KGF franchise, will be making her first collaboration with Ram in this psychological action thriller. While the female lead is locked, the hunt for a powerful antagonist is currently the subject of much discussion within trade circles. Reports indicate that the team is currently in talks with SJ Suryah to play the antagonist. Interestingly, the role was initially offered to Fahadh Faasil, but discussions did not move forward due to remuneration-related issues. If the deal with SJ Suryah is finalized, the film will feature a high-intensity face-off between him and Ram, adding significant weight to the film's Lone Wolf narrative. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film, titled Veera, is being described as a stylish psychological action thriller, a genre that remains relatively rare in mainstream Telugu cinema. The first-look poster has already hinted at a dark and gritty aesthetic, featuring Ram in a leather jacket with a distinct V-shaped haircut. The Lone Wolf tag suggests a character-driven story with intense psychological depth, moving away from standard commercial tropes. Production for Veera is being handled by Ram's brother, Krishna Pothineni, under the newly launched Rapo Cinematics banner. This homegrown production approach ensures that the project remains a close-knit family venture as Ram steps into his new role behind the camera. The team is currently busy with pre-production work and finalizing the rest of the supporting cast and technical crew. As per the current schedule, regular shooting for #RAPO23 is set to begin in June 2026. The makers are aiming for a swift production cycle to ensure the film is ready for a theatrical release in December 2026. Given the unique genre and Rams directorial debut, the film is expected to be one of the most anticipated releases in the second half of the year.

Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 Teaser/Trailer Stands Tall Amid Global Phenomena On YouTube

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, November 19 - Kannada superstar Yash-fronted action drama KGF: Chapter 2 scripted history in 2022 by becoming the first Kannada movie to cross 1000 crores at the worldwide box office. However, it wasn't just a phenomenon of a few weeks; it all began with the teaser, which paved the way for what it became later on. In a landscape dominated by global entertainment giants, Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 continues to script history of its own. The film's teaser/trailer, which created a sensation upon release, still reigns supreme on YouTube, standing tall as the most-watched teaser/trailer in the world. With a staggering 278 million views, the KGF: Chapter 2 teaser/trailer reportedly sits at the very top of YouTube's all-time rankings. What makes this feat even more remarkable is the competition it outruns. The second most-watched trailer is none other than Rockstar Games' GTA 6, which stands at 269 million views, followed closely by Marvel's Avengers: Endgame at 268 million. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) For an Indian film to surpass the viewership of two of the biggest global entertainment phenomena — the most anticipated video game of the decade and one of the highest-grossing films in cinematic history — is nothing short of monumental. It reflects not just the cult following of the KGF franchise but the global reach that Yash and Prashanth Neel's world of Rocky Bhai has achieved. From the moment the teaser dropped 4 years ago on January 7 in 2021, it redefined scale and swagger in Indian cinema. The gritty atmosphere of Kolar Gold Fields, Ravi Basrur's thunderous background score, and Yash's electrifying presence created an instant mass moment. Years later, that hype has not diminished; in fact, it has multiplied by drawing new audiences, reaction channels, and international commentary. The fact that KGF: Chapter 2 stands at the pinnacle of YouTube's viewership charts is a testament to the franchise's unmatched global craze and the mass hystria it created back then and continuing to do so. In a digital world overwhelmed with content every second, Rocky Bhai's aura continues to tower above all, proving that some phenomena don't fade — they become legend. Stay tuned...

Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 Beats Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 To Score Biggest Opening Weekend In Karnataka

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, October 6 - Hombale Films' blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1 has shattered records at the homeland box office after the excellent opening weekend. Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the period folk action thriller has scored the biggest opening weekend ever in Karnataka, beating Yash-fronted KGF Chapter 2. Kantara Chapter 2, which was released on October 2nd, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera, opened to over 20 crores gross in the state, and remained rock solid throughout the 4-day extended weekend to gross around 79 crores, which is now a record in KA. Yash's action drama, which also had the 4-day weekend, minted approximately 73.50 crores gross in the home state during its opening frame. Kantara 2 beating all-time biggest Kannada blockbuster is a major achievement as Prashanth Neel's directorial was hugely hyped before taking the box office by storm. After the opening weekend, the Kantara prequel is holding extremely well domestically, especially in Karnataka. By tomorrow (day 6th), it will cross 100 crores gross in the state and will become only the fifth movie ever to reach the milestone after Baahubali 2, KGF 1, KGF 2, and Kantara. Considering the current trend, Kantara 2 might become the first movie ever to breach the milestone of 200 crores in Karnataka, beating Kantara (183.60 crores). However, a lot will depend on how it fares in the second weekend and beyond, which will be crucial for it to achieve the ultimate glory. Highest-grossing movies in Karnataka - 1. Top 10 Biggest South Indian Opening Day Grossers At The Hindi Box Office: Pushpa 2 Rules As Kantara Chapter 1 Takes 8th Spot

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, October 3 - South Indian cinema continues to make a mark at the Hindi box office, and the latest to enter the race is Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1, which has taken a good start in the dubbed version, scoring 18.50 crore opening day. Among the top 10 biggest South Indian openers at the Hindi box office, Kantara 2 has secured the 8th spot. At the very top of the list is Allu Arjun's Pan India phenomenon, Pushpa 2: The Rule, which rewrote box office history with a mammoth 70 crore opening day in Hindi, which is a record. This number is far ahead of every other South release and firmly establishes Pushpa 2 as a true pan-India monster. Kannada superstar Yash's KGF Chapter 2 follows next with 54 crore net opening, a record that held strong until Pushpa 2 arrived. SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion sits at number 3 with 41 crores net. It is worth noting that it was the Baahubali franchise, which originally opened the floodgates for South dominance in Hindi belts. Prabhas, easily the biggest South Indian star in the Hindi market, makes multiple entries in the top 10, with Saaho making it to the top 5, followed by his Kalki 2898 AD. Rajamouli's RRR, along with superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's sci-fi extravaganza 2.0, also entered the list with solid openings. Breaking into this power-packed list at No. 8, Kantara Chapter 1, which is the second Kannada movie in this coveted list. Unlike mass-heavy commercial entertainers like KGF or Pushpa, Kantara thrives on its unique storytelling, cultural rootedness, and mysticism, yet still managed to draw audiences in large numbers on day one. Prabhas' Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire, followed by Ram Charan's Game Changer, and Jr. NTR's Devara Part 1, take the remaining spots in the list. The last two are the only films with less than 10 crores net openings in the list in the Hindi version.
