'L2: Empuraan' Advance Booking Crosses 50 Crore Gross Worldwide

Mumbai, March 24 - Superstar Mohanlal's much-anticipated action thriller L2: Empuraan continues to wreak havoc in the advance bookings, re-writing records for Malayalam cinema. It has already become the biggest Malayalam opener with pre-sales only but there is more to come.

The pre-sales of Empuraan on the opening day are 35+ crores, and the same has crossed 50 crores gross for the entire opening weekend at the worldwide box office, with 3 days still left for the release. It has become the first Malayalam movie to hit 50 crores in sales before its release.



At the overseas box office, Empuraan's pre-sales gross is nearing $4 million (30+ crore gross) while domestic sales are 23+ crore gross. Interestingly, the movie has already recorded the biggest collection in many countries for a Malayalam film. In Germany, Empuraan's advance sales have crossed the lifetime collection of the recent mega blockbuster Pushpa 2 which is remarkable.

With still 3 days left, the movie is heading towards 70 crore bookings for the weekend and 40-45 crore gross for the first day globally. The movie is guaranteed to open with 50+ crores gross worldwide, a milestone no one saw coming. Empuraan will have a Thursday release, and if it manages to get positive word of mouth, then it will look to become the biggest Malayalam grosser during the Eid festive in the first week itself.
