'Laapataa Ladies' Beats 'Pathaan' and 'Salaar' At The Japan Box Office
Tokyo, November 21 - Aamir Khan's production Laapataa Ladies, which is also India's official Oscar 2025 entry, has beaten the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Ceasefire at the Japanese box office.
Directed by Kiran Rao, the rural comedy-drama has minted over ¥50 million (2.75+ crore gross) in 45 days so far. Pathaan had grossed approximately 50 million yen while Salaar: Ceasefire earned approximately 46 million yen. Both the films were 2 of the biggest Indian grossers of 2023.
The total worldwide collection of Laapataa Ladies is approximately 31 crores gross, including 25 crores gross at the Indian box office. The movie was a decent success in India. It is expected to have a good run at the Japanese box office.
As said, Laapata Ladies is the 14th highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan. In the long run, it might beat Baahubali (¥75 million) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (¥80 million). SS Rajamouli's RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, is by far the biggest Indian grosser in the anime country with over ¥2.40 billion (130 crore gross approx.).
