Shah Rukh Khan's All-Time Blockbuster 'Pathaan' Sets Historic Release Date In Bangladesh
Mumbai, May 5 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's all-time blockbuster spy action thriller Pathaan is all set to historic release in Bangladesh amid huge excitement among the fans.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Pathaan" will be the first major Hindi film in many years to have secured release in the neighboring country and will be hitting theaters nationwide on May 12, according to Variety.
Bollywood films haven't been released in Bangladesh since the country's formation in 1971, in order to protect the local film industry. In 2009, Salman Khan-fronted "Wanted" was allowed to release in the country, however, it was pulled after a week due to a protest led by a local film industry organization.
Variety further states that in February this year, a consortium of 19 Bangladesh film associations decided to allow 10 Bollywood films to release, and "Pathaan" will become the first Hindi-language film to enjoy a wide release in Bangladesh.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, "Pathaan" is a part of YRF's Spy Universe and also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in prominent roles while Salman Khan plays a cameo as Tiger. The movie was released in January this year, and grossed over 1050 crores worldwide, becoming the 5th highest-grossing Indian title of all-time.
