WWE 2K24 Removes Vince McMahon After Lawsuit
Following sexual misconduct allegations, WWE is distancing itself from Vince McMahon. This is reflected in the new WWE 2K24 game, where McMahon has been blurred out in certain scenes and removed from the playable roster.
The lawsuit, filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant, details accusations against McMahon including sex trafficking, sharing explicit photos and videos without consent, and more.
WWE 2K24, celebrating 40 years of WrestleMania, features a "Showcase Mode" that allows players to relive iconic moments. However, players have noticed McMahon's face blurred in some cutscenes within this mode. Interestingly, he remains uncensored in others, such as the classic Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock match at WrestleMania 17.
This inconsistency reflects the larger situation surrounding McMahon. While WWE appears to be minimizing his presence, some older content featuring him remains. McMahon was also expected to be playable in the game, but those plans have been scrapped.
The game launches this Friday across various platforms including Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
