Box Office: 'The Batman' First Week Collection In India
Mumbai, March 11 - Warner Bros. "The Batman" is going great guns at the worldwide box office. The superhero movie, touted as the darkest in the Batman series, opened the March 1st weekend and kicked off its blockbuster box office journey.
The Robert Pattinson-fronted DC movie was released in India on March 4 along with the USA release. The film has done fairly well in the first week and grossed an estimated Rs. 37 crores ($4.8M) for all languages.
"The Batman" had opened to a very good $3.7 million (Rs. 28.10 crores) over the first weekend at the Indian box office. It managed to fetch approx. a little over $1 million during the weekdays (Mon-Thu).
At the worldwide box office, the film already crossed the $320 million mark. In the first full week, it has grossed $172.4 million at the domestic (North America) box office while internationally, it has grossed approx. $150 million.
The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite. Directed by Matt Reeves, the film is a reboot of the Batman film franchise.
