Chennai, April 28 - Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam's much-awaited period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has been released in theaters today, and as expected, the movie opened to super positive responses from critics and audiences alike. ## The film, starring an ensemble cast including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others in key roles, had early morning shows due to the huge curiosity among the fans and the early responses indicated that the movie has exceeded the expectations. ## Despite being called slow-paced, the critics and audiences are hailing the intense drama and superlative performances of the lead cast. Mani Ratnam has once again done very well with his excellent direction and given enough scope to each and every key character to show their skills. AR Rahman's music seems to be the cherry on the cake. ## Overall, "PS-II" has been able to deliver what the makers had promised, and just like "PS-I", it should also do well at the box office. ## Quite contrasting to "PS-2", the long-awaited Telugu movie Agent starring Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty opened to forgettable responses from critics who are calling it one of the poorest films of the actors and director Surender Reddy. Hyderabad, April 7 - Telugu actor Akhil Akkineni's spy action thriller film Agent hasn't been postponed contrary to the reports. The movie, directed by Surender Reddy, will be released on April 28, 2023, as scheduled. ## There have been reports in Telugu media stating that "Agent" was still filming and the makers were likely to postpone the release. But it has now been revealed that the movie is already finished filming and it will be fully ready before April 28. ## Produced by Rambrahmam Sunkara under the banner of AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema, "Agent" also stars Malayalam superstar Mammootty, Sakshi Vaidya as the female lead, Dino Morea and Vikramjeet Virk in key roles. ## In the film, the government tasks Colonel Mahadev (Mammootty), the head of NSC to capture a rogue agent known to be ruthless and unpredictable. Chennai, October 28 - The Tamil Nadu box office will be on fire this Pongal 2023 as two of the most-awaited big-ticket entertainers are set to take on each other. ## Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu was already announced to release on Pongal 2023, most likely on January 12. And now, Ajith Kumar's Thunivu has also been confirmed to hit the big screens during this festive season. While the date is yet to be announced, the movie is likely to release a day before or after "Varisu". ## There were reports stating that one of the aforementioned films might opt out of the Pongal race as two big films might not get their due in case of the direct clash, however, the makers clearly seem to be getting the advantage of Pongal holidays rather than thinking about long term gains.## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" is a family action drama and will also be released in Telugu it is not going to be easy for it there as three big Telugu tentpoles are already releasing on Sankranthi 2023 in the form of "Adipurush", "Waltair Veerayya", and "Veera Simha Reddy" in addition to Akhil Akkineni's "Agent".
