Parasakthi Box Office: Sivakarthikeyan's Political Drama Secures a Solid Start

Directed by the acclaimed Sudha Kongara, the highly anticipated Tamil historical political drama Parasakthi made its theatrical debut yesterday, January 10, 2026.The film arrived amidst high expectations and significant pre-release buzz, particularly as it marks a departure from lead actor Sivakarthikeyan's usual commercial roles into a more intense, content-driven narrative.Despite facing last-minute hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and concerns regarding a crowded January release window, the movie has managed to capture the audience's attention across the state. According to early estimates, Parasakthi has collected approximately ₹12.35 crore India Net and ₹14.75 crore India Gross on its opening day, while the overseas collection is around 10 crore. It is important to note that these figures are based on initial tracking and early estimates; the final figures may vary slightly as official data from all territories is consolidated. The film recorded an impressive overall Tamil occupancy of around 62.79% on Saturday, with night shows peaking at nearly 79%, indicating strong word-of-mouth that could propel the film through the rest of the Pongal week. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role of Chezhiyan and Ravi Mohan (Jayam Ravi) as Thirunaadan. It also marks the highly anticipated Tamil debut of actress Sreeleela, who plays Rathnamala. The cast is further bolstered by Atharvaa Murali, Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph in a cameo role, and a host of veteran actors like Prakash Belawadi and Guru Somasundaram.Set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1960s anti-Hindi imposition agitations in Madras State, the story explores the personal and political struggles of two brothers during a defining chapter of Tamil Nadu's history. Produced by Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures, the film boasts high production values with music composed by G. V.Prakash Kumar and cinematography by the veteran Ravi K. Chandran. Parasakthi benefited significantly from a solo release window following the postponement of Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan, allowing it to secure extensive screen space across Tamil Nadu. While critics have offered mixed reviews regarding its pacing, the performances and the authentic recreation of the 1960s era have been widely praised, setting the stage for a competitive box office run in the coming days.

From Dhurandhar to the Universe of Hanu-Man: Akshaye Khanna is the formidable Shukracharya in Mahakali

The ambitious Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) is expanding with a massive new addition. Acclaimed Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna is set to make his Telugu debut, stepping into the mythological world of Mahakali, the next major film from the universe of Hanu-Man. Khanna will be seen in the formidable role of Shukracharya, the powerful and wise guru of the asuras. The poster, which showcases the actor in a never-seen-before avatar, had already created significant buzz. With a long, flowing silver beard, ascetic robes, and luminous eyes, Akshaye Khanna embodies the powerful sage, radiating both meditative calm and immense power. The intense and mystical aesthetic of the poster, set against a backdrop of flames and ancient altars, was widely praised and set high expectations for his role in the PVCU. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Mahakali is the third installment in the PVCU, which began with the blockbuster success of Hanu-Man. While conceptualized, written, and created by Prasanth Varma, this new chapter will be directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru. The project is backed by RKD Studios and producers RK Duggal and Riwaz Duggal, promising a large-scale production. The inclusion of a character as pivotal as Shukracharya, the keeper of the secret to reviving the dead, hints at deeper cosmic conflicts and a significant expansion of the universe's lore. This role marks a significant milestone for Akshaye Khanna, not only as his official entry into Telugu cinema but also as another testament to his versatile acting prowess, following his recent lauded performance in Dhurandhar. The film will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, ensuring a pan-India reach for this epic mythological saga. Mahakali is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films from the PVCU, especially with the powerhouse addition of Akshaye Khanna to its cast.

Akhanda 2:Eesha Makers Postpone Release Out of Respect for Balakrishna

In a notable display of solidarity within the Telugu film industry, the release of the horror-thriller Eesha has been officially postponed to avoid a box office clash with Nandamuri Balakrishna's highly anticipated sequel, Akhanda 2. The decision was lauded as a dignified and graceful move that underscores the unity and values of the fraternity. The announcement came as a surprise, as Eesha was slated to hit theaters on December 12th. However, out of immense respect for Balayya Garu, the film's presenters, Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas, opted to reschedule. This development clears the runway for Akhanda 2, which is now set to storm cinemas on the same date, December 12, 2025. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda reunites Balakrishna with director Boyapati Sreenu, a combination that has a massive following. The original film was a huge commercial success, celebrated for its high-octane action sequences and Balakrishna's powerful performance as an aghora. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The release of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam had faced some uncertainty itself, having been initially postponed from a December 5th release due to financial and legal hurdles, which have since been resolved. The confirmation of its new December 12th release date created a potential conflict with several smaller films that had already planned their premieres for that weekend. The horror film Eesha, directed by Srinivas Manne, stars Thrigun and Hebah Patel in the lead roles. The film's trailer, which depicts a group of friends investigating fraudulent spiritual gurus only to encounter real supernatural threats, had generated significant buzz.Producers Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas, known for backing content-driven stories, made the final call to delay the film's release. Big Change: Maddock Films' Ambitious Mahavatar Opts Out of Christmas 2026 Slot Amid Vicky Kaushal's Scheduling Conflict

Mumbai, August 25 - Vicky Kaushal's ambitious epic action drama Mahavatar is no longer releasing on Christmas 2026, as the makers have reportedly postponed it to 2027 amid the shooting delay. The lucrative festive holiday period is now vacant for other films to occupy. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Mahavatar shoot has been delayed to next year amid Kaushal's scheduling conflict. To be directed by Amar Kaushik, the film was originally planned to start rolling by the end of 2025, which is reportedly not happening as the actor's Love and War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is taking longer than expected to wrap. Apart from scheduling conflict with Love and War, Vicky Kaushal will also have to undergo months of intensive physical training to achieve the muscular physique necessary for his role in Mahavatar, which is based on Lord Parashurama. The report says that the makers are now eyeing to take the film on floors by April 2026. Produced by Maddock Films, Mahavatar is expected to be shot over a period of 6 months, followed by lengthy post-production work due to its heavy reliance on VFX. While the studio has not locked a new release date yet, the report says it might hit the big screen on Independence Day weekend 2027. If that happens, then the studio's Stree 3, which is currently slated for the same weekend, will be delayed. Mahavatar is the most ambitious production of Maddock Films yet, and the studio is leaving no stone unturned to make a visual spectacle on the big screens. In the movie, Vicky plays Lord Parashurama, who is the sixth avatar among the Dashavatara of the preserver god Vishnu. He is one of the Chiranjivi (Immortals), who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to be the guru of Vishnu's tenth and last incarnation, Kalki. Stay tuned...

Anushka Shetty's 'Ghaati' Postponed

Hyderabad, July 5 - Anushka Shetty's much-awaited action thriller film Ghaati has been postponed once again due to pending work. The film is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by Yeduguru Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi under the banner of UV Creations and First Frame Entertainment. ## Ghaati, which is Anushka's first film since "Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty" (2023), was supposed to be released on July 11 after earlier getting postponed from April 18 this year. The makers issued a statement, announcing the postponement owing to the pending work. ## "Cinema is a living river. Sometimes it rushes forward, sometimes it pauses to gather depth. Ghaati is not just a film; it's a mountain echo, a wild breeze, a story carved from stone and soil. To honour every frame, every breath, we have chosen to hold its flight a little longer in our embrace. We believe this wait will make the experience richer, more intense, more unforgettable", the makers said in the statement. ## It is said that the film features high-quality VFX, and the delay is due to the incomplete post-production work. The new release date hasn't been announced yet. ## Team #GHAATI pic.twitter.com/UhUtWuMR6g— UV Creations (@UV_Creations) July 5, 2025 ## Stay tuned...

Vicky Kaushal Reunites With Producer Dinesh Vijan For An Epic Film After 'Chhaava'

Mumbai, November 13 - Actor Vicky Kaushal has been in top form lately with back-to-back box-office successes. The biggest hit for the actor in recent times was the romantic comedy Zara Hatke Zara Bachke with producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. This film opened the door for more collaboration between the two. ## After ZHZB, Vicky reunited with Vijan for a historical film titled Chhaava. The movie is scheduled to be released early next year and it is said the producer is confident that it will deliver big at the box office. Meanwhile, Chhaava is not the only film between the two creative forces as the actor has signed his third film with the studio.## On Wednesday (November 13), Maddock announced that the Sam Bahadur star will headline an epic historical film, titled Mahavatar. The actor has already signed the dotted lines and will start preparation for the same after completing Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic Love & War. ## Mahavatar is set against the backdrop of Ramayana and is about one of the most pivotal characters of the epic, Lord Parshuram. The film is undoubtedly the most ambitious one for both Maddock and Vicky Kaushal. The film requires 6 to 8 months plus of prep before going on floors, and that begins in 2025. ## Parashurama is the sixth avatar among the Dashavatara of the god Vishnu. He is one of the Chiranjivis (Immortals), who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to be the guru of Vishnu's tenth and last incarnation, Kalki. ## The movie will be directed by Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik and will hit the big screens on Christmas 2026. Meanwhile, Vicky is gearing up to commence the filming of Love and War which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It is easily one of the most anticipated films with an A-lister cast and crew. The movie will be released on March 20, 2026. ## DINESH VIJAN - AMAR KAUSHIK REUNITE AFTER 'STREE 2'... VICKY KAUSHAL TO STAR AS LEGENDARY CHIRANJEEVI PARASHURAMA IN 'MAHAVTAR'...
