Chennai, September 6, 2021: Actor Karthi had teamed up with director Muthaiaya once again for his next Tamil movie, titled "Viruman". hThe duo had previously collaborated for an action drama film, Komban in 2015. The rural entertainer, Viruman, will be produced by Karthi's brother Suriya and Jyotika under their banner 2D Entertainment.## Acclaimed director Shankar's daughter, Aditi Shankar, has been paired opposite Karthi in "Viruman". It marks the younger daughter of Shankar's film debut. The movie also stars Prakash Raj and Soori in key roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has delivered hit songs for Karthi in films like Paruthiveeran, Paiyaa, and Naan Mahaan Alla, will be composing music for a Karthi film after eight years. ## Suriya took to Twitter and introduced Shankar's daughter and also revealed the official poster of the film. This rural drama will be set in and around south Tamil Nadu, especially Theni, and talk about the importance of family and relationships. Chennai, July 19, 2021: Mani Ratnam's long-awaited epic historical drama, Ponniyin Selvan, has been confirmed to release in two parts, first to debut in summer 2022. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic five-book series novel of the same name, the movie has an ensemble cast featuring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others. ## Backed by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies along with Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions, the story of the film chronicles the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Kalki visited Sri Lanka three times to gather information for it. ## On Monday (July 19), the makers of the film released a brand new poster, confirming it a two-part release with a tagline of "The golden era comes to life!". The poster features a sword against a shield that has a fierce tiger's face roaring on it. Mumbai, June 14, 2021: In February 2020, Reliance Entertainment had confirmed that the production house has bought the Hindi remake rights of Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial Kaithi, which stars Karthi in the lead role. Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is signed to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film. ## However, according to reports, the Hindi remake of Kaithi will undergo many changes and will be different from the original movie. While the Tamil movie had no leading actress, Kajal Aggarwal is likely to romance Ajay Devgn in the Hindi version. It is said that makers are planning to include a heroine and a flashback episode with Ajay. ## If reports are to be believed, then Kajal is all set to reunite with Devgn after the 2011 blockbuster Singham. Kajal's inclusion in the Kaithi remake means, it is set to be remodeled as a commercial entertainer, unlike the Tami version, which was a bona fide action thriller. ## Interestingly, director Lokesh Kanagaraj's films are selling like hotcakes in Bollywood. His Maanagaram is being remade as Mumbaikar by Santosh Sivan, his Kaithi is all set to be remade by Ajay Devgn, and Salman Khan is likely to play the lead in the Hindi remake of Master.## Meanwhile, the producer of the original Kaithi, SR Prabhu recently confirmed through a Twitter Spaces session that a sequel to Kaithi is in the works and the audience will definitely get to see what happened next. The recently released Tamil movie, Sulthan starring Karthi, and Rashmika Mandanna is having a successful run at the box office. Billed on a lot of expectations, the action entertainer has emerged victorious with nearly INR 25 crore in the first six days. The movie opened with INR 6.45 crores which is one of the biggest openings for Karthi. ## On Wednesday (April 7), the team of Sulthan came together in Chennai for the film's thanksgiving meet, where they spoke highly of the audience and the media's support for the film. However, some of the crew members look disappointed with negative reviews by some critics but Karthi did manage by saying that they are happy with the response the movie received. ## Apart from acknowledging the media and public support, Karthi specifically mentioned Rashmika Mandanna who made her Tamil debut with Sulthan. Karthi said that the actress's ever-expanding fanbase was one of the reasons for the film's grand opening. It is well known that fitness enthusiast Rashmika has a crazy fan following in every part of the country. ## Talking about Sulthan, it is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and co-produced by S. R. Superstar Karthi's next Tamil film, Sulthan is all set for a grand theatrical release on April 2nd. Since the theatrical business in Tamil Nadu is going through a tough time despite Thalapathy Vijay's Master's blockbuster success, a lot has been depended upon Karthi's Sulthan to give a much-needed boost to the ailing Tamil industry. The movie is undoubtedly the first Tamil summer release and the pre-release buzz around it has been good enough to take a solid opening. ## Sulthan was supposed to release last year during the summer. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the makers forced to postpone the release. It was the time when some of the biggies started opting for the direct-to-digital release across languages. Sulthan also got offers, like really tempting ones from leading streaming platforms to skip the theatrical way of releasing the movie but makers opted to wait for the theaters to open. ## Karthi, in a recent interview, revealed that Sulthan is a mixture of comedy and emotions which can only be enjoyed in theaters. "There is an ample dose of comedy and emotions in the movie. They can not be experienced on OTT by sitting alone in a room. The theater will give an experience which will be very enjoyable. It is a tough decision to make and I should thank the producers for waiting until the theaters open", the actor revealed. ## Karthi also talked about Rashmika Mandanna who will be making her Tamil debut with Sulthan. Karthi said that "'Sulthan' is a very good launch for Rashmika in Tamil. She really enjoyed doing her first Tamil film. She will be seen as a village belle. In action films, female leads are usually limited to songs. But 'Sulthan' is different. She has got a bold and angry character". ## Sulthan is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and will simultaneously release in Tamil and Telugu languages. Chennai, March 24 (IANS) Superstar Rajinikanth has donated Rs 50 lakh for the wellbeing of daily wage workers of South Indian film industry in the time of complete shutdown owing to the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports. Several other top star of southern cinema including Suriya, Karthi and Vijay Sethupati, besides many filmmakers have pitched in, too. ## Given the recent outbreak of COVID-19, theatres across Tamil Nadu have been closed, and shoot of films, television serials and advertisements are on hold as well. The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president RK Selvamani earlierissued an appeal through a press release requesting the South Indian film fraternity to provide financial help to the daily wage members of the federation who don't have an income right now. ## Within a few hours Suriya, Karthi along with their father Sivakumar donated Rs 10 lakh. It was later reported that actor Sivakarthikeyan too donated Rs 10 lakh. ## Now, it is said that superstar Rajinikanth has donated 50 lakhs, while Vijay Sethupathi has donated 10 lakhs for the welfare of FEFSI members. ## Actors Parthipan and Prakash Raj have provided several rice bags weighing 25 kg each. Ever since RK Selvamani had put a request, Kollywood celebrities are leaving no stone unturned to help FEFSI members in need. In fact, it is these members who worked incredibly hard for the success of their films. ## Due to the lockdown, the shooting of Rajinikanth's ''Annaatthe'', which is directed by Siruthai Siva, has been put on hold.
