Ram Charan Opens Up On 'RRR' Not Getting Picked For Oscars 2023 By Indian Jury

Hyderabad, February 11 - The Film Federation of India (FFI) left everyone stunned when it picked the Gujarati movie "The Chhello Show" (Last Film Show) as India's official entry for Oscars 2023, over SS Rajamouli's "RRR" which has been winning accolades internationally and getting wide recognition. ## "Last Film Show" though did receive critical acclaim but failed to score nominations in the Best International Feature Film category which further widened the criticism for FFI for not picking "RRR". Meanwhile, Ram Charan, who plays the role of Ramaraju in the film, finally reacts to the decision. ## During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ram Charan said that he was not entirely surprised by the decision but was a little disappointed that the movie was not picked.## "I really don't understand the process of selection. Prior to this, I had no knowledge of how it's done, so I don't know if I can really comment on it. Whoever did the selection, I'm sure they (FFI) have been in the process for many years, and I'm sure [Last Film Show] is a great film. I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, but nevertheless, I hope this is a great beginning for us", the actor said. ## "We are so happy with the reception from the West, the East, and India, and all these nominations and awards are definitely great. They're feathers in our cap, and I hope we have even better things to look forward to in the future", Charan added.## "RRR", meanwhile, scored a nomination in the Best Original Song category for "Naatu Naatu" which became India's first-ever Oscars nod in the category. "Naatu Naatu" is the front-runner to win Oscars 2023. It also won a Golden Globe award, making it the first-ever win for India. ## Stay tuned...

The Guardian Critics Pick Alia Bhatt As Their Favorite For Best Actress Oscar 2023 For Gangubai Kathiawadi

Mumbai, January 24 - The nominations for the 95th Academy awards will be announced later today and this year, a couple of Indian films are in the race to grab the big prize. "Chhello Show" (The Last Film Show) is India's official Oscars 2023 entry and it has been shortlisted in the top 15 Best International Films. ## SS Rajamouli's "RRR" has been in the hot in awards and it is predicted to score, at least, one nomination in the Best Original Song category for "Naatu Naatu". It is also in the race to grab the Best Pictures nominations, however, the chances are slim in this category. ## Meanwhile, out of nowhere, Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is gaining the buzz to strike something big at the Oscars 2023. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial was an immensely popular and critically acclaimed film worldwide. The critics have been praising Alia Bhatt for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. ## Buzz aside, the thing that will definitely make every Indian go wow is that Alia Bhatt has been picked as the favorite to win the Best Actress Oscars by the critics of one of the oldest and most popular newspapers, The Guardian. ## According to The Guardian's critics - Mark Kermode and Wendy Ide, Alia has been the standout performer in 2022 and is their personal favorite for Best Actress award. While both critics pick Alia as their winner they are doubtful about Academy's choice. It may also be because "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is the least promoted film in North America so there is no genuine buzz in Hollywood. ## Well, all the questions about who is going to get the nod for Oscars 2023 will be answered today when the nominations will be announced. As for India, there haven't been films that came close to this prestigious honor in the past than "RRR" and, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" as well as "Chhello Show", so this might be the year to remember for the Indian cinema. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, September 20 - The Film Federation of India has picked the acclaimed Gujarati film Chhello Show (Last Film Show) for India's official entry for Oscars 2023. ## The news about India's official Oscar entry has left many movie fans in India disappointed as they were hoping that SS Rajamouli's globally appreciated film RRR would get the nod from the Indian jury. The movie, however, can still get an Oscar nomination in the general category, and the USA distributor of the film, Variance Films will be running a campaign for the same. ## Variance Films president Dylan Marchetti said that "RRR" will receive a significant Best Picture campaign, but he also saw the potential for Best Original Song ("Naatu Naatu"), in addition to cinematography, production design, editing, and many other categories. ## The hashtag "#RRRforOscars" has been trending on Twitter for the past week here in India. "The only thing this news changes is one less award we can go after (Best International Film)", Marchetti said, a few hours after the Indian decision was announced (via Indiewire). "There's a dozen-plus other we can go for now. This film is the whole package".## "RRR" continues to play at theaters in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, with additional cities booked through the end of the year in the USA. "I don't think 'RRR' is the best movie from India this year", Marchetti said. "It's the best movie in the world this year. We're going to conduct ourselves accordingly".## Variance Films may be willing to run an Oscar campaign for the movie but it will require a significant and time-intensive push to keep the movie at the forefront of conversations for these categories as the season heats up. Marchetti said they are currently focussing on getting Academy members to see the movie in theaters. ## Stay tuned...
