Chennai, June 24 - Tamil cinema fans are in for a double treat as two major Kollywood projects have grabbed headlines with fresh updates. While excitement continues to build around superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming films, actor Karthi's highly anticipated spy thriller sequel Sardar 2 has officially locked its theatrical release date. Titled Dharman, the film features superstar Rajinikanth as a deadly doctor. The movie is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, best known for Dragon and Oh My Kadavule. The superstar is already gearing up for multiple high-profile releases, including Jailer 2, which is slated to hit theatres later this year. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel marks another major collaboration with Rajinikanth after the blockbuster success of Jailer. Chennai, October 26 - Tamil star Karthi is having the best year of his career with back-to-back blockbusters at a time when most of the top actors are struggling at the box office. ## The talented actor's "Viruman" was a big hit, followed by mega-blockbuster "Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1" and now, he has one more blockbuster in his hands in the form of "Sardar" which has grossed approx. 45 crores worldwide in just 5 days and emerged as a Diwali 2022 winner. ## Meanwhile, buoyed by the mega success of "Sardar", the makers have confirmed the sequel to this spy thriller with an official promo. During the press meet, the makers dropped a brief promo to announce that the filming for "Sardar 2" will commence soon. ## "Sardar 2" is likely to release in 2023. Interestingly, Karthi is lining up a couple more sequels in the same year as well. He will also have "Ponnyin Selvan 2" which will release in the summer of 2023, and keenly awaited "Khaithi 2" which will commence filming in the second half of 2023 and may release in 2024. ## The film is written and directed by P. S. Mithran and produced by S Lakshman Kumar, under the banner of Prince Pictures. This film is a depiction of the contrast between father and son's beliefs. The son, a police officer, believes that any deed of his should be broadcasted whereas the father, an intelligence officer, spent thirty-two years in prison for the greater good. ## The film stars Karthi in a dual role with Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Panday, Laila, Rithvik, and Munishkanth in prominent roles. It marks Chunky Pandey's debut in Tamil cinema and Laila's comeback to cinema after sixteen years. G. V. Chennai, October 21 - Two of the anticipated Tamil films, Karthi's Sardar, and Sivakrathikeyan-fronted Prince has been released in theaters today (October 21). Both the actors have been in some fine form after delivering back-to-back hits, so the expectations are high for their next films. ## Directed by P. S. Mithran, "Sardar" is a spy thriller film, and going by the reactions from the audience, the movie has been able to leave a mark. The engaging story and direction by Mithran are touted to be the biggest plus point of the movie, and on top of that, the music by GV Prakash Kumar seems to have added more energy to it. ## Karthi is a proven actor and he has once again left a mark in a dual role, as per the overall reactions from the audience.
