Hyderabad, October 18 - It is known to everyone that producer Allu Aravind of Geetha Arts along with Madhu Mantena, and Namit Malhotra announced that they would be producing the epic Ramayana for the big screen and it would be made as a trilogy.## Nitesh Tiwari was attached to direct this mammoth project. However, with not much development happening, the uncertainty over the project was looming large. Just when things were looking bleak, producer Allu Aravind provided a big update on the same.## During a recent interaction on a Telugu talk show, Allu Aravind was asked to comment on this mega project. The producer confirmed that the movie is on and will go on floors in the summer of 2023. The pre-production on the same is going on for the last 18 months and might take some more time before the makers are completely satisfied with their preparation. ## The star producer reiterates the fact that "Ramayana" will be a mammoth and the costliest film Indian cinema has ever made. Mumbai, September 27 - Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan's highly-awaited Vikram Vedha, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, is gearing up for its wide release on September 30. After Vikram Vedha, Hrithik will start Siddharth Anand's Fighter while he also has Krrish 4 in the pipeline. ## In other news, it has been speculated that the WAR actor will be headlining Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra Part 2: Dev along with director Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus Ramayana. Hrithik has been approached for Ramayana, as per the recent confirmed media reports, and now, he has dropped a major hint regarding the same. ## During the Vikram Vedha press conference held in Mumbai recently, Hrithik was asked about what's next on the work front for him and if he is a part of Brahmastra 2 and Ramayan, Hrithik said, "After Vikram Vedha, I will resume Fighter and then there is potential for the other films you mentioned". ## He clearly hinted that he might take up both the movies. Toronto, September 17 - India's maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli has stressed the importance of making films by taking the essence of Hindu epics Ramayan, and Mahabharat to make the film industry strong. ## The RRR director, during the press interaction at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, said that there is a lot of emotional drama and action in the aforementioned epics and the movies on them can go beyond boundaries. ## Speaking highly about the Telugu film industry, Rajamouli said that Tollywood out of all other film industries has made more films by taking the essence of "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata". ## He further said that if the Telugu industry continues to make more films on these epics, then it needn't be restricted to only Telugu people and can go beyond the state and the country. ## Giving the example of his path-breaking film series Baahubali, Rajamouli said that it was the film that broke all barriers, and then slowly people started realizing that the Indian film industry is not all about Bollywood, but there are other industries, particularly the Tollywood. ## Lately, Bollywood too seems to have realized the importance of making films on "Ramayana" and "Mahabharta" which provide wholesome larger-than-life experiences. Currently in theaters, "Brahmastra" is based on Ancient Indian Astras, and the audience is loving it. Mumbai, July 16 - Director Nitesh Tiwari has a massive task in his hands to deliver in the form of directing the Hindu epic Ramayana. The task is such a huge that it requires a lot of time in pre-production as the makers are very well aware that there is no scope for them to missteps regarding this magnum opus feature film. ## There have been many reports regarding the casting of "Ramayana", however, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Going by the previous reports, Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan have been attached to play the roles of Lord Rama and Ravana, respectively, and latest the latest development is that they are still the first choices to play these two iconic roles despite the movie getting delayed. ## Madhu Mantena, who will produce this movie with Namit Malhotra, and Allu Arvind (as of now), previously said that they are planning to take the movie on floors by the end of 2023, and according to the latest reports, the movie is very much on track to start rolling out as scheduled.## One would believe that the makers had/have enough time to re-look at the script and their arrangements to take the movie on floors by 2023. Mumbai, October 14 - Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has been working on the epic feature Ramayana for some time now. The feature film will reportedly star Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Hrithik Roshan as Ravan while the search for the role of Sita is underway. The movie will officially be announced once all three main characters finalize.## Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari is also showing his interest in author Satyam Srivastava's "The Wielder of the Trishul" mythological fictional book. The "Dangal" director launched the book in Mumbai on Wednesday (October 14) where he hints that he might adapt it for a feature film, "if it's something very exciting".## When asked if he would like to make a movie out of the book he had just released, he said, "It is a tough question. I think I will be very honest here; I would want to finish reading the book because for me entire story arch is really important. The end has got me more intrigued. Once I finish the book and if it is something very exciting as a story, I'd say why not".## Tiwari praised the author for his narrative, which he said was easy for readers to follow. "Satyam has taken mythology and put it in a slightly fictional place, but the book still has a lot of mythological characters who exist in our literature, such as our gods and goddesses. He has integrated both elements nicely. The place where the story is taking place is fictional, but the characters are familiar, so there is a sense of excitement and familiarity as well", he added. ## Meanwhile, the epic "Ramayana" has been in development for a long time now and some of the Oscar-winning team of artists is working on the film. It will jointly be directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar while Madhu Mantena, Allu Arvind, and Namit Malhotra will be producing it. Mumbai, October 3 - It looks like producer Madhu Mantena has found his Ram and Raavan for his epic and the ambitious feature film "Ramayana". The project, which is said to be India's biggest to date, has been in development for a long time now as the makers are working to finalize the leading cast for this film. ## On Saturday (October 2), Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan were spotted together and reports claim that the duo had met producer Namit Malhotra in his office and had a meeting regarding the epic, Ramayana with Madhu Mantena and director Nitesh Tiwari. The duo reportedly discussed some basic stuff and the plans to take the film on floors in the second half of 2022 with the makers.## According to Pinkvilla, Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan will play Ram and Raavan respectively while the search for Sita is still on. The mega-budgeted film will be produced by Madhu Mantena, Allu Arvind, and Namit Malhotra, with Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar on board as the two directors.## In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, producer Madhu Mantena had said that announcement of the star cast will be made around Diwali. Mumbai, July 17, 2021: Filmmaker Madhu Mantena is planning to take the Indian cinema to the next level, and his vision can't get a better and bigger start then kicking off with Indian mythological tales. The filmmaker on Thursday (July 15) announced that he is working on India's first cinematic universe based on Indian history and Mythology. ## Taking to his Instagram handle, Mantena shared a tinted red abstract photo that has a god and demon in it. The photo has 'Stories of Indian mythology' and 'Mythoverse' written on it. While sharing the photo he wrote, "Working on India's first cinematic universe based on Indian history and Mythology .. Our first film begins in Treta Yuga. 1.8 billion years have passed in this Kalpa so far..."## Meanwhile, Mantena recently opened up about his plans to make two epics, 'Ramayana' and 'Mahabharata'. While he is well aware that other filmmakers are also working on Indian epics, Mantena has promised a unique, world-class experience for all the viewers with regards to 'Ramayana', 'Mahabharata' and the Mytho-verse. "We are making it for the global audience. We want to tell these stories to audiences all across because the basic emotions are the same for everyone", he shared according to DNA. ## Currently, Mantena is working on Ramayana, for which, the casting will be announced around Diwali this year. Speaking about it, the filmmaker had told Pinkvilla, "The ambition that we have for Ramayana is larger than what our country has seen. The responsibility to tell this story is so larger that it requires a lot of work. We have taken it on ourselves to make it as well as anything else in the world".## "We are trying to follow the process that James Cameron did for Avatar. The ambition is so larger that we are going into the minute details of everything. We need to show the world what Ramayana is and it needs to portray all the magic that Valmiki wrote. This isn't a project, it's a purpose, a purpose to tell Ramayana in all its glory to the world", he added. ## It is said that over 200 artists from across the globe are working on various aspects of the film for the last 2 years. During the lockdown last year, Indian TV telecasted Ramayan and Mahabharat that not only liked by people but also broke the TRP records. ## The ever-growing interest of people in the Indian epics has made Indian filmmakers look into this genre for the big screen experience. Now, it seems that the characters and stories based on Ramayan and Mahabharat are the latest favorites of the Indian filmmakers as a host of new films based on these epics have been launched. ## Not only Bollywood but South Indian film industries also seem to be inspired by these epics lately. In the past, Bollywood has tried its hands on a theme similar to this genre just for the drama quotient. However, the upcoming roster promises to explore the stories with bigger production values. ## Here's a look at what's in store ## BRAHMASTRA## Brahmastra was announced many moons back but couldn't complete due to its large scale and of course, the covid-19 pandemic which halted the shoot. It is an ambitious action fantasy that draws its name from Mahabharat, where Brahmastra was a lethal supernatural weapon capable of destroying the entire universe.## The Ayan Mukerji directorial is said to be the first part of a trilogy that stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy in key roles. The film is planned to be released in 3D, IMAX, and standard formats in multiple Indian languages. However, the plot of the film is yet to be known as things are kept under wraps at the moment. ## ADIPURUSH ## A dream project of director Om Raut, Adipurush is an adaptation of Ramayan, where Telugu star Prabhas features as Lord Ram while Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan will be seen essaying Ravan. This film is already making a lot of noise due to its vast plot and scale. However, the film also sparked controversy in December last year after Saif Ali Khan mentioned in an interview that the film was going to show the "humane" side of Ravan. Though he later apologized for his remark saying, "Lord Ram has always been the symbol of righteousness and heroism for me".## The film is currently on the floors and will be releasing on 11 August 2022 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. ## RAM SETU ## Actor-producer Akshay Kumar has carved his space with patriotism and socially relevant commentary through mainstream films lately. With Abhishek Sharma's Ram Setu, he is falling back on mythology. Announcing the film on Twitter last year, Akshay had said the endeavor was "to keep alive the ideals of Ram in the consciousness of all Bharatiyas by building a bridge (Setu) that will connect generations to come".## The actor has sought permission from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to shoot the film in Ayodhya. Akshay will be backing the film too, besides starring along with Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nushrratt Bharuccha. The film is expected to go on floors soon and eyeing Diwali 2022 release. ## THE IMMORTAL ASHWATTHAMA ## According to the story of Mahabharat, Ashwathama is the son of guru Dronacharya, who was the weapon instructor of the Pandavas and the Kauravas. During the battle of Kurukshetra, Ashvatthama sided with the Kauravas and fought against the Pandavas. As per the Mahabharat, he is immortal.## The Immortal Ashwatthama is a superhero film starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The film is being marketed as a "high-concept visual spectacle". It will be helmed by Aditya Dhar who has earlier directed Vicky Kaushal in the 2019 film Uri: The Surgical Strike and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies. ## SURYAPUTRA MAHAVIR KARNA ## Another film that inspired by Mahabharat. It film narrates the story of Karna, son of Suryadev or Sun God, and princess Kunti, born before her marriage. Karna is one of the most important characters of Mahabharat. Written and directed by Malayalam filmmaker RS Vimal, the film is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Jackky Bhagnani while the dialogues, lyrics, and additional screenplay are penned by Dr. Kumar Vishwas. Baahubali fame, Prabhas is all set to team up with the Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut for upcoming magnum opus Adipurush. The movie was announced on Tuesday (August 18), and this dream project of Om Raut is said to be an adaption of Ramayana.## This mega budgeted project will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair under the banners of T-series and Retrophiles. Recently, during a virtual video conference, Sunil Lahri aka Laxman said that while they were shooting, there was a scene where Lord Rama returns to Ayodhya, Lalita Pawar injured but still continued her shoot. ## "Lalita Pawar Ji once suffered an injury. During a sequence when Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya, the entire set was lit with diyas. Lalita Ji being an enthusiastic actor did not realize and she walked over them, by mistake she stepped on the lanterns and both her feet got burnt. The spot dadas would carry her till the set from the room and she used to give her shot".## "In fact, she was asked to relax and rest, but she was such an excited actor that she would love to work. Nobody got to know that she was in pain, she showed no signs when she was on camera. She was so committed that despite the injuries she continued to shoot and hats off to her. She was a great lady," said the actor. ## Lalita Pawar who died in 1998, had worked in several films in different languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Gujrati.
