Mumbai, March 8 - The sequel to the period folk horror film Tumbbad is getting bigger, thanks to the success of the first film's re-release last year. After largely going unnoticed in the first phase, the movie turned the tide in its repeat run at the box office, raising the anticipation of its sequel. ## Produced and frontend by Sohum Shah, Tumbbad 2 has already been announced. According to the latest reports, a few production studios are showing interest in it and are willing to provide the budget the makers may not have imagined. ## It is said that Shah has secured a 100-crore budget from a leading studio to make the sequel of this cult classic. Interestingly, Tumbbad, which was originally released in 2018, struggled to get the finances and was made on a low budget but things are a lot different this time around. ## The story of Tumbbad 2 is said to have locked and the pre-production has already started. It will go on floors later this year for 2026 release in theatres worldwide. Director Rahi Anil Barve is expected to return to direct the sequel with Sohum Shah headlining it. ## Tumbbad, which follows the story of a person's search for a hidden 20th-century treasure in the Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra, grossed over 52 crores at the worldwide box office, including around 38 crores gross domestically in its re-release run. Kochi, March 7 - One of the biggest Malayalam films ever, superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan is all set to hit the big screen on March 27 in multiple languages. The movie is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who also plays a key role in it alongside a massive ensemble cast.## Meanwhile, the makers have completed censorship formalities and as per reports, Empuraan has been censored with a U/A certificate with an approved runtime of 3 hours by The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), as one of the longest Malayalam films of all time. ## The film has reportedly been passed with 8 cuts, including the violent scenes and dialogues. There is no other major cut has been made by the board and the makers are confident of the final output they have in their hands. Additionally, the trailer of the film has also been passed with a runtime of 3 minutes and 51 seconds. It will be released in a few days. ## Produced by Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas, Empuraan is a follow-up to the 2019 film Lucifer and the second instalment in the planned trilogy. Hyderabad, March 7 - Natural star Nani and director Srikanth Odela have reunited for an action drama The Paradise and this combination is already the talk of the town. Touted as India's Mad Max, the film recently unveiled the first look teaser which has garnered huge buzz among the nationwide audience. ## Currently on floors, The Paradise has been announced for March 26, 2026, release in multiple Indian and international languages. Meanwhile, as the shoot is progressing at a brisk pace, the makers have provided the plot details of this highly-anticipated Pan India movie. ## Set against the backdrop of 1980s Secunderabad, the film follows a marginalized tribe stripped of their rights who find hope in an unlikely leader — a character described simply as "a bastard" — who guides their fight for citizenship and recognition in a system designed to keep them oppressed. Chennai, March 7 - Award-winning Tamil director Vetrimaaran's much-awaited film Vaadivaasal, starring Suriya, is finally set to begin shooting soon. The film was announced a few years ago, and a test shoot with Suriya was already conducted in 2023. However, the project faced delays due to the director's other films. ## In a recent interview, the director revealed that pre-production work has been done in London. Now, the music composer, G.V. Prakash Kumar has shared an exciting update on the song composition that has started for the movie. ## The latest media reports suggest that the filming of Vaadivaasal will start in June this year. This is said to be a 3-part project with each part to be shot after a gap. Mumbai, March 7 - There is no stopping the Chinese mega-blockbuster Ne Zha 2 which continues shattering box office records. After becoming the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, it recently entered the $2 billion club at the worldwide box office becoming the first Chinese and animated movie to do so. ## Ne Zha 2, which was released on January 29 this year, has sold over 300 million (30 crores) tickets at the Chinese box office in 36 days which makes it the first film of the modern era to do so in a single market. Overall, the film has scored $302+ million globally so far.## The previous highest admissions in theatres for a movie of the modern era in China was Wolf Warrior 2 with 160+ million. There is no specific record available but according to Wikipedia, the Chinese musical fantasy romance Legend of the White Snake (1980) is the number 1 film worldwide in terms of tickets sold with 700+ million. ## Directed by Jiaozi, Ne Zha 2 is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster which itself is the 5th highest-grossing movie in China. The film is loosely based on Chinese mythology stories and the 16th-century Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods. Mumbai, March 6 - Superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar is one of the most-anticipated Bollywood movies. It is the first movie for the actor since YRF's Tiger 3 in November 2023, and there is genuine anticipation for the film which is directed by A. R. Murugadoss. ## The buzz around Sikandar is on the rise with each passing day and the same can be understood with the non-theatrical rights which has been locked. According to the reports, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has locked the film's non-theatrical rights for a very good sum of around 165 crores, which includes digital, satellite and music rights.## It is said that Netflix has secured the post-theatrical streaming rights of Sikandar on a base price of 85 crores and it can go higher up to 100 crores based on the film's box office performance. Zee Network has grabbed satellite rights for 50 crores while music rights are with Zee Music Company for 30 crores.## The budget of the movie is reportedly around 180 crores, excluding the remuneration of Salman Khan. This is a reasonable cost for a movie which has been mounted on a huge scale and with positive word of mouth, it is expected to set the box office on fire. ## Sikandar is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment It stars Salman Khan in the title role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar. Mumbai, March 6 - The 2016 crime drama Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh is getting a sequel. The project is currently in the writing phase with production slated to begin next year. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, producer Ekta Kapoor has roped in Aakash Kaushik to write and direct Udta Punjab 2. Although the casting for the film will commence after the compilation of the script, Ekta is keen on bringing Shahid Kapoor back in the lead role.## The filmmaker reportedly briefly discussed the film with Shahid and the formal talks will happen soon. "The sequel will apparently feature a new storyline, with its only connection to the original being Punjab’s drug crisis", says the report.## Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab is a hard-hitting crime drama, deep-rooted to Punjab's drug crisis and its links to politics. Back in the day, the movie faced many challenges leading to its release and once it was released, it resonated with the audiences and became a box office hit with nearly 100 crores worldwide gross collection.## Udta Punjab 2 is one of the many more franchise sequels in the making in Bollywood. Films with franchise value are becoming a box office success guarantee post the COVID-19 pandemic. Los Angeles, March 5 - Marvel Studios' highly-awaited Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are fast approaching their releases. Doomsday will be the first to release in 2026, followed by Secret Wars in 2027, and the Russo Brothers, who are set to direct both, have revealed the estimated runtime of both films. ## Speaking to Collider's Steve Weintraub for their upcoming film, The Electric State, the director duo teased the runtime of their high-profile Marvel blockbusters. Both films will be longer than most of the Marvel movies. The longest-running film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Avengers: Endgame (182 minutes), was directed by Russos and it was their last MCU film.## Well, the upcoming Avengers movies may not necessarily be the longest films in the MCU but they are surely going to be the closest to the longest film as according to the directors, the first one (Doomsday) is two and a half, and the second one (Secret Wars) is three hours long.## Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 1, 2026, will start filming this summer. As per Russos, it will be the most radical Marvel movie to date and the audience will be shocked to see it. It will revolve around Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and will also involve the new Fantastic Four — Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach along with other MCU stars.## The follow-up to Doomsday will be Secret Wars which begins filming next year and be released on May 7, 2027. The comeback of Russos in the MCU as director along with Downey Jr. in a different role has already raised the hype for both movies. Kochi, March 5 - Malayalam star Unni Mukundan's box office blockbuster Marco has reportedly been halted for the television premiere and is also likely to be stopped from OTT release due to the violent content. The movie is directed by Haneef Adeni. ## Touted as the most violent film, Marco was censored with an A rating (18+) for the big screen release by The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but the body has denied the permission to screen the movie on television. CBFC has also reportedly asked the government to ban the movie from streaming on OTT platforms.## It is to be noted that to premiere the film on television, it has to obtain a U/A or U certificate from the board. In the case of Marco, the central board accepted the recommendation of the regional examination committee and based on that, it was found that the movie contained too much violence to be changed to a U/A or U-category film. ## If the makers want, they can re-submit for permission by cutting more scenes but they are unlikely to do so as it will make the film irrelevant. It is probably the first movie in recent times to get banned from TV premiere and the decision is not surprising given the scrutiny CBFC has been under recently.## Marco, despite its huge box office success with a 100+ crore gross collection, has faced criticism for showing too much violence, and so has the CBFC for allowing its release in theatres. Meanwhile, the producer of the film has said that he will not make films like Marco in future, though their intention was not to promote violence. Nonetheless, the right decision has been made to halt its premiere on television, a medium where all age groups watch the content.## Stay tuned...
