Bengaluru, March 11 - Director Prashanth Neel's action thriller Salaar is one of the most-anticipated Indian movies in the making, featuring India's one of the biggest stars Prabhas in a never before seen avatar. ## Produced under the banner of Hombale Films, Salaar has been in the news since it was announced in late 2020 for various reasons. There have been rumors that the movie is part of Neel's KGF franchise and might feature cameos from KGF movies. ## There is a strong buzz that has been making noise for the last couple of days that Yash, who led the blockbuster KGF franchise, would be featuring in a cameo role in Salaar. Hyderabad, March 6 - The Yash-fronted period action drama film KGF: Chapter 2 was the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2022 and grossed a whopping approx. 1210 crores worldwide. The Prashanth Neel's directorial was hailed as one of the finest ever commercial entertainers in Indian cinema by audiences. ## The all-time blockbuster success of "KGF 2" is not going well with some of the so-called filmmakers and the latest in the list is a Telugu director Venkatesh Maha. Mumbai, January 28 - Director Nitesh Tiwari has been working on the ambitious epic "Ramayana" with producer Madhu Mantena for a long time now. The makers have spent enough time in the pre-production work to bring this epic to the big screen and are also in talks with actors to play the main characters. ## It has been reported on multiple occasions that Ranbir Kapoor is the first choice to play the role of Lord Ram and he is almost confirmed. Bengaluru, January 7 - Kannada superstar, Yash-fronted KGF is one of the most successful film franchises in the country. "KGF: Chapter 2", which was released in April last year, went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2022 and with this, the makers also confirmed the third installment of KGF. ## There have been many inquiries about when will "KGF 3" start rolling since there is no clear confirmation from the makers though it is sure that it won't be in Hombale's immediate future plans as both director Prashanth Neel and Yash will be busy with a different project for the next couple of years. ## As per the latest reports, "KGF" won't only get its third film but it will be built like a James Bond franchise with multiple parts. Bengaluru, November 19 - Hombale Films' latest mega-blockbuster Kantara has outgrossed its own recent sensation KGF: Chapter 2 in the original Kannada language at the domestic box office.## The Rishab Shetty-starrer adventure action drama film has scored approx. 158 crores net in 49 days, beating "KGF 2's" approx. 154 crores net to become the biggest grosser ever in the Kannada language. "Kantara" has seen a much better trend than "KGF 2" at the box office, thanks to the never-ending social media buzz for the film.## Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, "Kantara" has also crossed 300 crores net mark with today's collection (8th Saturday), becomes the third Indian movie in 2022 to reach the milestone, and joins the big boys "KGF 2" and "RRR". Overall, it is the 16th Indian movie ever to reach 300 crores net collection. ## The original Kannada version has been the best-performing language in the "Kantara" collection, followed by Hindi with approx. 80 crores net (36 days), and Telugu with approx. 41.50 crores net (35 days). Malayalam and Tamil versions have contributed around 21 crores net. ## The 16-crore budgeted film has also done well at the overseas box office, grossing approx. 31 crores so far, helping the worldwide total to reach around 385 crores gross. Bengaluru, November 5 - The makers of the Yash-fronted "KGF" franchise have filed a case against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Srinate, and Jairam Ramesh for using KGF songs in their Bharat Jodo Yatra without getting permission, according to India Today report. ## The case has been filed by MRT Music, a Bengaluru-based music label, which owns the music rights to this blockbuster franchise. ## The Congress members have been accused of copyright infringement and in its complaint, the music company said it invested huge sums of money to acquire the rights of the songs of the South Indian super-hit film KGF 2 in Hindi.## According to MRT Music, the Congress has picked up songs from the movie without seeking its permission and has used them to create marketing videos for the Bharat Jodo Yatra featuring Rahul Gandhi. Mumbai, October 27 - Kannada superstar Yash has been in huge demand post the mega-blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2. There have been a lot of speculations about his next film as some reports state that he would be doing director Narthan's next, but, there is no confirmed development on the same yet. ## While the speculation about Yash's next is building up, the latest development suggests the actor has been offered two Bollywood biggies to headline them. Mumbai, September 15 - Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar spoke highly about Kannada's blockbuster film franchise KGF and called it the industry-saving film. The filmmaker graced a star-studded event, held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai on September 14, where some of the most prominent personalities of Marathi cinema were present. ## Mahesh Manjrekar was speaking in the context of giving more importance to regional cinema and said that the Kannada industry is the prime example of it, which, the filmmaker believed, was changed because of one person. ## "Some years back, the condition of the Kannada film industry was such that it seemed like it would shut down anytime. But there was one person who believed in making a film and spending a lot of money on it. That person (probably referring to producer Vijay Kiragandur) made a film named KGF and it created history.## "What makes me happy is that they didn't make both parts of KGF in Hindi. They shot the film in Kannada, dubbed it in Hindi aur fir audience ke sir ke upar feka!", he said, according to Bollywood Hungama. ## "I envy these guys. I would have loved to do something like this. It is superb", the "Antim" director added. "We have to shout from the rooftops that Marathi cinema is (also) great. There's no dearth of talent when it comes to Marathi cinema. Then what is it that we are lacking? We also need people who believe in our vision. It's crucial that we make big-scale films, that too with conviction and confidence".## The filmmaker further said that investors should also believe in Marathi cinema and its filmmaker like Vijay Kiragandur believed in director Prashanth Neel's vision and Yash's confidence, called KGF. "Somebody has to believe in us and spend money, like the way KGF producers did. I mean, come on, KGF - Chapter 2 collected Rs. 1000 crores! Can you imagine?", he added.## "KGF" was released in 2018 and went on to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time before its sequel came in 2022 and shattered box office records at the Pan India level. Released in April 2022, "KGF: Chapter 2" grossed over 1200 crores worldwide, including approx. 1000 crores in India alone.
