Los Angeles, June 1 - Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick waited for more than two years to release in theaters and once it was released, the audience made sure it become a memorable outing on the big screen as well as at the box office. ## Over the opening weekend, Top Gun 2 not only became the number 1 movie at the worldwide box office but also set a new record for Memorial Day weekend at the domestic box office, and also the biggest opening ever for Tom Cruise. The movie grossed a whopping $160.5 million over the 4-day weekend with coveted A+ CinemaScore.
