Box Office: Jailer Third Day/First Saturday Early Estimates

Chennai, August 12 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama "Jailer" witnesses a handsome jump of around 35% on its first Saturday at the domestic box office. The movie had a usual drop on Friday after debuting on Thursday. ## On its third day/first Saturday, "Jailer" scored an estimated 40+ crores gross collection, including an estimated 20+ crores gross in Tamil Nadu state. The total gross collection of the film reaches approx. 128 crores domestically, including approx. 59-60 crores in Tamil Nadu.## As far as the net collection is concerned, "Jailer" has crossed 100 crores net (109 crores) after an estimated 35 crores net on its third day. Chennai, August 11 - After the record-breaking opening day, superstar Rajinikanth's action drama "Jailer" has a good hold on its second day at the domestic box office. The movie has a drop of around 45% which is a much better hold than Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu", released earlier this year.## The early estimates suggest the second-day collection of the movie to 30+ crores gross on its second day/first Friday, including an estimated approx. 17 crores gross in Tamil Nadu. The two days collection of the film is approx. 86 crores domestically, including approx. 40 crores in the home state.## Nelson Dilipkumar's directorial movie should witness a jump tomorrow, Saturday, and with this, it will also cross the 100 crores domestic gross mark. Chennai, August 10 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama "Jailer" opens to record-breaking numbers at the domestic box office. After receiving a fabulous response in the advance sales, the Nelson Dilipkumar's directorial showed very good growth throughout the day, especially in the entire South belt.## The early estimates collection of the movie suggests 50+ crores opening day domestically (official data may vary), by far the biggest start for a Tamil title this year. FEFSI Imposes Strict and Controversial Rules On Tamil Films

Chennai, July 26 - The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) is getting criticism from Tamil filmmakers after the federation introduced a new set of guidelines for Kollywood films going forward. ## According to new rules set by FEFSI (via News18), "only Tamil artists should be employed in Tamil movies" going forward. It has also made it mandatory that "Tamil film shoots should not be conducted in other states or foreign countries unless absolutely necessary". ## Additionally, the federation has insisted that "in cases where shoots exceed the scheduled time or the allocated budget, proper written communication must be provided to the producers concerned, along with appropriate reasons for the delay or budget overrun".## Apart from the aforementioned rules, FEFSI has also insisted that "if the director is the writer, then he has to take responsibility in case of story ownership issues, and the issue should not affect the producer or the film". ## It is said that members of the FEFSI faced difficulties in finding employment as Tamil films frequently cast stars and actors from other industries. The organization also stated that any violation of these rules will result in disciplinary action being taken.## However, the new rules by FEFSI have invited controversy as Tamil, as well as other industry filmmakers, are slamming the board for the same. Malayalam filmmaker Vinayan, who has also worked in a few Tamil films slammed new rules. ## He wrote in a Facebook post, "While we see India as a single nation, Tamil Nadu film associations are headed in the direction of a highly localized decision in a place where it is believed that all Indians are brothers and sisters. This news has been out for a while but we have not seen the Tamil Nadu government opposing the decision". ## He further added that this separatist move should not be allowed to grow and that no one can curb Indian artists to work in any state and any language. Sithara Entertainments Acquire Telugu States Rights of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' At a Huge Price

Hyderabad, July 19 - Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming gangster drama film "Leo" with director Lokesh Kanagaraj continues to make headlines regarding its theatrical business. The movie is in high demand across the country as well as in overseas markets.## Now, the makers have locked the theatrical rights of the film in the two Telugu states. Noted Telugu production house Sithara Entertainments will distribute the movie in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Chennai, July 18 - Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to back in the action with director Nelson Dilipkumar's action thriller film "Jailer" which is scheduled to release on August 10, 2023. The much-awaited movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures who also produced Rajinikanth's last film "Annaatthe" (2021) as well. ## The makers have been tight-lipped regarding the details of "Jailer", however, the official synopsis and runtime of the movie have reportedly been revealed online.
