Box Office: NBK's 'Akhanda' Roared Past Rs. 100 Crores Worldwide Gross

Hyderabad, December 13 - Telugu movie "Akhanda" has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. After putting on a thundering show at the box office, the action thriller has crossed Rs. 100 crores worldwide gross and has become NBK's first film to achieve the feet. ## Directed by Boyapati Srinu, "Akhanda" already became the highest opening week grosser for NBK, earning Rs. 67.55 crores net in the extended 8-day week. The strong word of mouth helped it to maintain the pace throughout the second weekend for Rs. 9.15 crores. With total worldwide gross collection stands at Rs. 101.50 crores, including the staggering India gross of 89 crores, the movie has turned out to be a hugely profitable venture for the distributors, with an AP/TG share of 52.07 crores. ## The film is a huge blockbuster for its investors in Nizam and other areas. In Nizam alone, it fetched Rs. 17.42 crores gross over 11 days, followed by Ceded with Rs. 13.27 crores. The state government is alleged to have put limits on the theatrical run of certain films including Pawan Kalyan's "Vakeel Saab". ## The government recently passed a bill that put restrictions on ticket prices. During the rally, Pawan Kalyan alleged that the government is targeting his movies and has reduced ticket prices. He said that he will not succumb to the government's tactics and if necessary, he will show his movies for free to the public. ## "Targeting my films, the government has reduced ticket prices in the state. I will not fear or step back even if the government stops screening my films. If the situation escalates to that stage, I will not hesitate to show films to the public for free", he said.## "The government argues that there is no transparency in ticket rates and collections. Hyderabad, December 2 - While the Telugu film industry is still recovering from the devastating effects of the covid-19 pandemic, the firm stand of the state government on the low ticket prices has further become a roadblock in the recovery. The Telugu film artists have been urging the Andhra Pradesh chief minister to allow the hike in the movie ticket prices so that they can generate some revenues. ## Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has continuously spoken against the government for neglecting the Telugu film industry. Natural star Nani too has expressed his opinion on this burning issue and now, veteran director K. Raghavendra Rao has opened up on the issue of ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh.## Expressing his displeasure regarding the Andhra Pradesh government's stand on the issue, the director appealed to the AP Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to reconsider the Bill passed on the reduction of movie ticket prices in cinema halls. ## "With the existing pandemic-related problems, the film industry sees only a 10-20 percent success ratio. Hundreds of families depend on that percentage of success. Distributors, traders, theatre owners, and many others survive on this little success", Rao said.## About online movie ticketing, Rao wrote, "What if influenced people freeze the online tickets and sell in the black market? There are possibilities, right? So, I'm requesting the government to reconsider the decisions taken about online booking system".## Director Rao further suggested that the government should officially increase ticket rates, at least for the first week of any movie release, which would only help them generate more revenue from the taxes.
