The Kerala Story Opening Day/First Friday Early Estimates
Mumbai, May 5 - Director Sudipto Sen's talk of the town drama film The Kerala Story has thrown a huge surprise at the box office with a fantastic opening in India.
Helped by the massive controversy, "The Kerala Story" has taken more than the double opening of Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" which falls on similar lines. As per the early estimates, TKS scored 7-8 crores net on the opening day, which is huge for this kind of film that is made on a cheap budget.
There are more shows being added late at night due to the huge demand and this might push the opening day collection to even higher which remains to see. Either way, "The Kerala Story" has taken one of the biggest openings of the year.
Starring Adah Sharma in the lead role, "The Kerala Story" had a decent advance booking for the opening day and looked like a 3-4 net starter. However, strong word of mouth came into play which led to solid spot booking throughout the day, resulting in a fantastic start.
The advance booking for the remaining weekend is decent, which means a solid opening weekend is on the cards for the film.
