Why Salman Khan never moves out of his flat at Galaxy Apartments

Mumbai, March 17 (IANS) Supserstar Salman Khan has been living in a flat in Bandra's Galaxy Apartments for years now. He could have easily bought a bunglow for himself but he preferred staying there as his parents and family, and is deeply attached to the place. ## "I love staying at my flat in Bandra over a big, luxurious bungalow because my parents live in the flat above mine. Ever since I was a child I have taken the same left turn or right turn and I would not have it any other way," Salman had earlier said. ## The "Dabangg" actor had also shared his memories attached to his house. ## "The entire building is like one big family. When we were little, all the kids of the building would play together in the garden below and sometimes even sleep there. Back then, there weren't different houses, all the houses were treated as our own and we would go into anyone's house to eat food. I still stay in the same flat because I have countless memories attached to that house," he had added. ## In one of the old interviews, Salman's father, who is also Legendary screenwriter, had shared his love for his flat and why he wants to live there forever. ## "I am very much attached to this place. If I ever leave this house, my heart will cry. Then I won't be able to live happily," Salim had said. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.

COVID-19: If shooting stops for 13 days, what happens to B'wood's lower-rung workers?

Mumbai, March 17 (IANS) As per notification issued by Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association, Federation of Western India Cine Employees and other similar bodies, shooting for films, TV shows, digital shows and all other entertainment formats will be stopped between March 19 and 31 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. While filmstars, filmmakers and other celebrities get to spend quality time with their families and also relax for a few days, what happens to the grassroots-level workers of the film industry, who get paid per day? What happens to technicians, spotboys, camera and crane operators, freelance makeup artists or hairstylists? ## Unfortunately, the picture is far from rosy for these people, and most of them are already worried. For most of them, one day's work -- which might last upto 16 hours -- normally means just a few hundred rupees, and a lot of them are the sole breadwinners of their families. Bollywood shutting down would mean even that paltry income will stop. ## Freelance hairstylist Snehal told IANS: "I am a single woman. I stay in a rented apartment and have to bear all my costs. If shoot stops for so many days, how will we survive? I don't have much savings to last for a long time." ## Snehal, a Mira Road resident, added: "Normally, hairstylists like us get around Rs 2,000 on a daily basis. Most of us get to work for 10 to 15 days a month. That's how the industry works. If you working a full month -- like in TV serials -- then you get Rs 1200 daily. If that also stops coming, how will we manage? As it is, there are too many people and too less work and it is not easy to get work. Due to the current situation, even pre-shoot meetings and auditions are getting postponed. If shoots do not start, we won't get work." ## As per the notification, shooting is expected to stop from March 19. Owing to panic, half of Goregaon's Film City had already stopped shooting by Tuesday, March 17. Most people declared they were in no mood to take risks. Celebrities as well as junior artistes are routinely absent from pre-scheduled shoots. ## Casting coordinator Prince Sheikh revealed: "I am casting for a mythological show right now but I am not getting good response from actors owing to this coronavirus scare. If earlier, a hundred people responded to an ad posted by me, now hardly 10 are turning up." ## Big stars have already started cancelling shoots. Reveals a source: "A couple of days ago, shoot for an advertisement was scheduled with an A-lister actress in Film City. She did not turn up owing to the coronavirus scare, and the entire shoot was cancelled. A celebrity can afford not to turn up, but if a technician, a spotboy, a lightman, a cameraman and a junior artiste does not turn up, they stand to lose their job. Junior artists get paid as less as Rs 300-400 and other workers get Rs 600-700 for working upto 16 hours." ## While shooting scheduled to be stopped for 13 days at a stretch, the lockdown could be extended depending upon circumstances. How will these people manage? Not coronavirus, but the question of running their households is right now the bigger concern for these people Bollywood's lower-rung professionals. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.

Corona Pop: Songs on COVID-19 go viral!

New Delhi, March 17 (IANS) It is human nature to look for a bit of comic relief even in the grimmest situations, and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is no different. While the disease spreads, several celebrities, as well as netizens, have taken to social media to spread some joy with songs about COVID-19. These include popular names like Ali Zafar, Narendra Chanchal and Jaime Lever among others.## The peppy numbers talk about where disease starts from, about hygiene, the necessity of wearing masks, and emphasise on washing hands.## Here is the complete IANS dossier on songs that define an emerging genre that could perhaps be dubbed Corona Pop.## * Narendra Chanchal's coronavirus bhajan: Veteran devotional singer Narendra Chanchal's video of a bhajan on the virus at a recent Holi function has gone viral. The opening line of the song goes: Dengue bhi aaya, swine flu bi aaya, Chikungunya ne shor machaya, Khabre ki ki ho na, O kitthon aaya corona, Maiya ji, kitthon aaya corona (There was dengue, there was swine flu. Chikungunya created some noise, too. All of it made news, but where did corona come from).## * Jaime Lever's "Kolaveri di" recreation for COVID-19: Jaime recreated Dhanush's popular "Kolaveri di" number into "Why this corona disease?". CORONA DISEASE Song."## * Ali Zafar's "Ko Ko Coronavirus song": The video starts with Ali saying in Hindi that: "Right now, entire human race is fighting a crisis which we all have to fight". He then describes the virus as "upar se sharmeela lekin andar se shaitan ka saala". In the track, he says if one has symptoms should immediately should see a doctor. He then stresses that instead of shaking hands say hello from a distance and sacrifice social life for sometime. His video has 632K views on Instagram and he captioned it "Ko ko Coronavirus... se kaisay larna hai. Ghor se bhaee ka song suno."## *Cardi B's tweet turned into a rap track: A DJ named iMarkkeyz turned rapper Cardi B's COVID-19 warning into a song with a music video which went viral, reports iheart.com. iMarkkeyz, over the weekend, dropped a remix of the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker's previous Instagram video where she spoke of her concern about the virus. "Coronavirus, Coronavirus, sh*t is getting real, sh*t is getting real, sh*t is real," Cardi is heard saying before the beat drops and she's heard speaking over a hip hop beat. COVID-19 paralyses film industry

The Covid-19 shutdown has come as a totally unexpected blow for the entertainment industry as a whole, and the film industry in particular. There have been cinema shutdowns earlier but those were usually voluntary and planned, as a protest against some government high-handedness or unreasonable taxes and such.## All sectors will suffer including exhibition trade, studios, and the television and OTT platforms, not to mention actors not used to sitting idle. The film industry-related associations have decided to suspend all shooting activities starting March 19. So, there will be no new content.## For the film industry, it is a totally loss-making situation. The others, television, and OTT can still manage -- television with reruns and OTT with the content pool they already have. In fact, OTT may remain the only alternative available to those seeking a pastime.## What works against the cinema? It is a place of gathering, hence a complete no-no under the circumstances because coronavirus mandates no personal contact. The cinemas will continue to bear fixed costs like salaries to staff and property-related costs, even as all their revenue-generating will dry out. There will be no box office collections and, hence, no canteen and parking revenues. Add to this the advertising and auxiliary income from sources like ticket booking portals.## Although the closure of all activities related to entertainment has been put on hold till March 31 as of now, there is no certainty that work may resume after that. The way things stand, there are possibilities of further extension of the shutdown.## As a follow-up, all production offices, as well as studios, have closed down. Major production houses like Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala, Viacom, and others have also closed their offices. All corporate houses in the film business have declared the closure of all their offices all over.## According to Brijesh Tandon, a prominent cinema chain holder from Delhi, while not all cinemas he controls have closed down, they are doing so gradually, because footfalls are limited. Also, how long can they keep screening the same feature week after week, as no new films are in the offing?## At this stage, it is not possible to put a finger on the losses the industry will incur.## As for the revenue loss at the box office, Atul Mohan, editor of the trade magazine, Complete Cinema, estimates it to be over Rs 100-125 crore per week.## It is rather ironic that the working class has all the time in the world with nothing to do and nowhere to go!## For more and latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned with us.

Anushka Shetty on relationship with Prabhas and wedding rumours

Chennai, 17 March (IANS) One of South Indian cinema's most-loved on-screen couple is Anushka Shetty and Prabhas. Ever since they played the king and queen in the ''Baahubali'' franchise, their fan following has only increased. Very often fans have also expressed the wish that the two were in a relationship.## In a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, Anushka has put an end to all rumors. "I have known Prabhas for over 15 years now and he is one of my 3 a.m friends. We are usually linked up because both of us are not married and make an amazing on-screen pair. Had there been anything between both of us, it would have been out by this time. Both of us are the same kind of people who don't hide any emotions if we are involved," said Anushka.## Apart from "Baahubali", Prabhas and Anushka have co-starred in "Billa" (2009) and "Mirchi" (2013). In 2019, Mumbai Mirror published an article claiming Prabhas and Anushka were indeed seeing each other and were looking to buy a house in Los Angeles. On Karan Johar's chat show "Koffee With Karan", Prabhas denied his link-up with Anushka, saying they were just good friends.## Recently, Anushka Shetty, who has completed 15 years in the film industry, was also been in the news for marriage rumors. The news suggests that she would be marrying "Size Zero" director Prakash Kovelamudi, who is known to Bollywood fans as the maker of the Kangana Ranaut-starrer "Judgementall Hai Kya".## Anushka, however, slammed the rumors. "None of that news is true. I don't get affected by such rumors. I don't know why my wedding is such a big deal for anyone. Nobody can hide a relationship. How can I hide my wedding? It is a very sensitive matter and people should deal it with some sensitivity," she said.## Meanwhile, the actress is currently awaiting the release of her film "Nisabdham". Directed by Hemant Madhurkar, the film also features Madhavan, Anjali, "Kill Bill" antagonist Michael Madsen and Shalini Pandey.## As for Prabhas, he is shooting for his 20th film.
