Cody Rhodes Pays Tribute To Terry Funk With Hardcore Match On WWE SmackDown

Louisville, August 25, 2023 - On August 23, the wrestling community suffered the loss of Terry Funk. A true legend and a hardcore icon, Funk's illustrious career spanned numerous decades, encompassing a variety of territories, major American promotions, and esteemed Japanese promotions. ## Notably, one of Funk's most prominent rivals was Dusty Rhodes. Their fierce rivalry saw Funk wearing a memorable "Dusty Sucks Eggs" slogan, leading to intense clashes in various matches. Their battles extended across the 70s and 80s, with NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship contention being a pivotal point. On the August 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes took a moment to honor Funk's legacy. ## Cody's tribute began with a personal anecdote from his youth. He recounted being 11 years old, overhearing Terry Funk refer to his father as "an egg-sucking dog" at an airport. ## Cody went on to reflect that while WWE superstars have been labeled with various titles, only a select few have earned the moniker of "Cowboys." In Cody's eyes, both Funk and Bray Wyatt embodied this label in the most exceptional manner. Cody acknowledged Funk's five-decade-long involvement in wrestling and highlighted how he had a hand in shaping an entire company's trajectory through "the rub," particularly referencing Funk's impactful stint in ECW. Following a video tribute celebrating Funk's remarkable career, Cody seamlessly transitioned into the next phase of his promo. ## Cody introduced a Terry Funk Hardcore Match, featuring the Brawling Brutes (Butch & Ridge Holland) facing off against the Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins). ## .@CodyRhodes celebrates the incredible career of WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk with the WWE Universe. #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/R87trnY73K— WWE (@WWE) August 26, 2023 ## We take a look back at Terry Funk's illustrious Hall of Fame career#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/BnJERmp4FA— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) August 26, 2023 ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Hulk Hogan Caught Lying About Brock Lesnar Match

Augusta, August 25, 2023 - Hulk Hogan isn't telling the truth. Brock Lesnar was in the UFC from 2008 to 2011, and he got the UFC Heavyweight Champion title while he was there. He came back to the WWE in 2012 to surprise John Cena after WrestleMania XXVIII.## Lesnar's opening fight after his time in the UFC was against John Cena at WWE Extreme Rules 2012. But as per Hulk Hogan, he's saying that Brock Lesnar had a match against Hulk Hogan. ## "I got him first when he came back from the UFC. I was kind of winding down, putting guys over and doing my thing and Vince goes, 'I want you to work with Brock.' I went, 'Okay.' I knew his buddy, Brad Rheingans, who was from Minnesota. He was the coach of the Olympic team several years back, and so when Brock was in high school, we had heard of him, we kept an eye on him. When he came back from UFC, they gave him to me first, and he was really intense, brother. He was really intense. So my whole thing is we always grabbed somebody and squeezed him to give him the office. 'You've got my head, you're about to break my neck,' you give him the office to lighten up. ## I squeezed the piss out of him and gave him the office. Finally, I just started calling him Broccoli. I told him, 'Broccoli', I got him to laugh a little bit. I said, 'Let me tell you something. If you keep hurting me in here, if you don't loosen up on the old man here, I'm gonna make you look really, really bad because you can be in here by yourself.' I used to tease him all the time because he's a really good friend, you know? When I got him first, he was really, really intense and now he's like, he's turned out to be one of the best workers this business has ever seen.## I mean, brother, he draws money. He backpedals. He sells. He's got instinct. He's got placement. He knows where he's at. He listens. You don't have to tell him what to do. You don't have to have a writer write the match out. He goes out and listens to the crowd with his mind and his heart. It's something that's a lost art form. He's got it, man. He figured it out," said Hogan on the Joe Rogan Experience. ## Transcription Via Fightful ## In 2014, during Hogan's birthday bash on WWE Raw, Lesnar showed up and told Hogan, "the party's done, old man." They had just one fight together in August 2002. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Ranking 10 Best Matches Of Bray Wyatt's Career

Brooksville, August 25, 2023 - Making his debut through a vignette on the May 27, 2013 episode of "Monday Night Raw," Bray Wyatt had been a pivotal figure in WWE for close to a decade. With wrestling in his blood as a third-generation pro wrestler, being the grandson of Blackjack Mulligan and the son of Mike "I.R.S." Rotunda, Bray's upbringing surely played a role in fueling the inventiveness he showcased in many storylines and matches. ## His distinctive personas provided a refreshing contrast to the typical villainous characters seen on WWE broadcasts. Whether portraying a bayou cult leader as the head of the Wyatt Family or the recent amalgamation of Firefly Funhouse host and the formidable alter ego, The Fiend, Bray's versatility stands out. ## Bray's recent reentry into WWE's realm, coupled with the enigmatic presence of Uncle Howdy, prompted a reflection on some of Wyatt's most unforgettable matches. These encounters greatly deviate from the norm in professional wrestling. Not all of them are etched in memory due to extraordinary wrestling maneuvers—in fact, one is particularly notable for the scarcity of wrestling within it. ## 1. The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield (Elimination Chamber 2014) Bray Wyatt's career reached its peak when he led the Wyatt Family, consisting of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, against their rivals, The Shield. WWE capitalized on the popularity of both trios and scheduled a highly anticipated six-man tag match at Elimination Chamber in 2014. ## This particular match stood out as one of the finest in the decade, showcasing the skills of all six participants. Although The Shield had a stronger foothold in the WWE landscape at that point, the victory of the Wyatt Family carried more weight due to their relative newcomer status. Bray Wyatt's individual performance was particularly remarkable as he secured the win for his team, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. ## 2. Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena (Firefly Funhouse match At WrestleMania 36) Following his loss of the WWE Championship to Goldberg at Super ShowDown, Bray Wyatt shifted his focus toward the returning John Cena. Cena had given a talk where he mentioned he wouldn't be competing at WrestleMania 36. He expressed his desire to step back and let the future of WWE take the spotlight. The Fiend, however, challenged him, leading to the build-up for their match, which offered a unique exploration of Cena's past from Wyatt's perspective. Even Cena himself admitted to being uncertain about what to anticipate leading up to WrestleMania. He recounted in an interview with Den of Geek, "I distinctly remember asking what a Firefly Funhouse match was. And the response was basically, 'We're not sure.' In most cases, that would cause worry, but I was intrigued by the wide possibilities to create something extraordinary." ## The actual match had more of a theatrical quality, occurring within the empty arena of WrestleMania 36. WWE took advantage of this setup by crafting a cinematic experience that delved into Cena's history and even presented alternate scenarios. The match surprisingly carried emotional weight, with Bray allowing Cena, in his "Doctor of Thuganomics" persona, to deliver some pretty cutting verbal attacks. This was all in service of the narrative they aimed to tell. While the match concluded with some physicality, as the Fiend made an appearance and executed a Mandible Claw and Sister Abigail to secure a pinfall, the count was conducted by Funhouse Bray himself. Looking back on it today, the Firefly Funhouse match remains an intriguing departure from the typical wrestling bout and likely stands as one of the most unforgettable (albeit divisive) WrestleMania performances in history. ## 3. Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe (Extreme Rules 2017) With Universal Champion Brock Lesnar absent, WWE capitalized by arranging an intense five-man contest with a title opportunity at stake during Extreme Rules 2017. The match brought together five prominent solo performers, delivering non-stop action throughout. ## This bout marked the beginning of the feud between Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor. Samoa Joe emerged as the eventual victor, earning his chance to challenge Brock for the title. However, each participant left their mark in this encounter. Wyatt demonstrated that he belonged to the same level as the other key figures on Raw. ## 4. Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan (Royal Rumble 2014) Following a frustrated period, Daniel Bryan became part of the Wyatt Family in late 2013. However, due to the Family's lack of success, Wyatt eventually turned against his recent recruit. This led to a singles showdown at the 2014 Royal Rumble, ranking among the more intense matches in Wyatt's history. Accompanied by Rowan and Harper, Wyatt made his entrance. Yet, after some initial interference, he signaled that he could manage the fight on his own and sent them away. ## The match itself proved to be engaging, with Wyatt both taking and dishing out substantial offense. Bryan's skillful portrayal of Wyatt's moves added to the brutality of Bray's attacks – notably, the forceful lariat executed at the ring's edge was particularly impactful. The ending was a sight to behold: Wyatt adeptly caught Bryan mid-air during a dive outside the ring, transforming it into a seamless Sister Abigail that slammed Bryan's head into the barricade. Wyatt then casually deposited Bryan's seemingly lifeless body back into the ring, finishing the job with a second Sister Abigail to secure his victory. ## Despite the crowd predominantly rallying behind Bryan throughout the match, this contest could arguably be deemed as the pinnacle of Bray Wyatt's direct singles matchups. The match received four stars from the Observer, firmly establishing Bray's capability to hold his ground against one of the world's top performers. ## 5. Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker (WrestleMania 31) ## The allure of an Undertaker match is a highlight of any WrestleMania, and both "The New Face of Fear" and "The Dead Man" aimed to make Undertaker's first bout post his streak's end something extraordinary. At WrestleMania 31, Bray challenged Undertaker, who responded by summoning lightning to strike Wyatt's customary rocking chair. Wyatt desired to become what Undertaker had represented in WWE and, if not through a torch-passing, he intended to seize it and set the WWE Universe ablaze. ## Their entrances alone were worth the entry fee: scarecrows around Wyatt appeared eerily animated. Despite injuring his ankle earlier that day, Wyatt performed admirably, and Undertaker seemed physically fit. Undertaker controlled initially, but Wyatt shifted the momentum, delivering his own offense. The crowd's enthusiasm evolved from mild to fervent support for Undertaker. The enduring image of Wyatt rising into his crab walk during a ten count, only for Undertaker to eerily sit up, remains unforgettable. The match included creative reversals, like turning Sister Abigail into a potent chokeslam. Undertaker sealed the victory by reversing the same move into a Tombstone piledriver. ## While Wyatt's victory might have been beneficial, and some felt he should have ended the Streak, both wrestlers put aside debates to deliver a memorable WrestleMania clash. ## 6. Six-Man Elimination Chamber Match (Elimination Chamber 2017) Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, John Cena, Dean Ambrose, and The Miz comprised an elite lineup for the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber 2017. Styles and Cena's ongoing rivalry was a focal point. Randy Orton's Royal Rumble win and his conflict with Luke Harper also played a role. ## The bout showcased classic Elimination Chamber elements: intensity, daring maneuvers from the chamber sides, and a new champion. The Styles/Cena narrative continued despite Cena's fourth-round elimination, allowing AJ and Bray to close the match. The crowd was engaged, debating the champion-to-be. Ambrose, Corbin, and Miz contributed admirably, each fitting into their roles. ## Bray's title reign wasn't as memorable as the victory itself. His character work, promos, and ability to craft compelling villains define his legacy. ## 7. WWE Champion Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton (WWE WrestleMania 33) After confirming Luke Harper's doubts, Randy Orton set up a WrestleMania match by burning down the Wyatt Family compound. Orton's prior refusal to challenge Bray was a ruse to set up his turn on Wyatt. The buildup, marked by Sister Abigail's grave and Wyatt's home, mirrored the match's unique premise.## In a WrestleMania with significant matches, Wyatt needed something special. He chose a swarm of bugs and disturbing imagery. The audience transformed into "fireflies," illuminating the dark arena. Wyatt's loss to an RKO was memorable due to its unconventional, insect-infused twists. ## 8. Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy in an Ultimate Deletion match (WWE Raw, 3/19/2018) The rivalry between Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy grew in 2017. "Woken" Matt's emergence promised unusual matches, such as the Ultimate Deletion. Set at the Hardy family compound, the cinematic brawl featured holograms, pyro attacks, and a piano-accompanied entrance. ## The absurdity peaked with a piano rendition of Wyatt's theme and Wyatt being tossed into the "Lake of Reincarnation." Bray later returned as part of "Deleters of Worlds." ## 9. The Fiend Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor (WWE SummerSlam 2019) Following his hiatus, Bray returned with a new persona, "The Fiend." Facing Finn Balor at SummerSlam marked the Fiend's full match debut. Everything intensified, from the entrance to the moveset. The Fiend dominated, winning with the Mandible Claw. ## 10. The Fiend Bray Wyatt vs. Seth Rollins (Hell In A Cell 2019) The Fiend's program with Seth Rollins led to a disappointing Hell in a Cell match. The match was marred by red lighting, a lengthy runtime, and an unsatisfying DQ finish. The crowd's support for the Fiend turned to dismay as the match concluded. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Returning with further social media posts, the topic still centers around Bray. Cody Rhodes strides into the ring, ready to share his thoughts. ## Addressing the Louisville crowd, Cody dives into a personal memory. He recalls a distinct incident from his childhood in Denver when he was just eleven years old. During his travels with his father, he encountered an odd occurrence on a people mover. A man's voice caught his attention, hurling a rather peculiar insult in his father's direction – "Egg Sucking Dog." Cody cheekily questions the appropriateness for a Fox broadcast. He amusingly recalls the man having choice words for his own grandmother. Perplexed, Cody couldn't identify the man, and he suspected a potential domestic issue. Little did he know, it was none other than the owner of the Double Cross Ranch, Terry Funk. ## Cody segues into contemporary terminology that allows people to be labeled WWE superstars once they step into the ring. He reminisces on the varied terms used to describe those in the wrestling world – from wrestlers and athletes to competitors and carnies. However, Cody emphasizes a rare distinction: the title of "cowboys." Both Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt embodied the spirit of cowboys in their own remarkable ways. Cody delves into paying tribute to Terry Funk, hailing him as a second-generation star hailing from Amarillo. He proudly acknowledges Terry's tenure as a wearer of the ten pounds of gold. Terry's attendance and dedication to his education at West Texas State underscored his authenticity. Cody acknowledges Terry's impressive fifty-year presence in the wrestling industry. ## Throughout this span, Terry Funk's versatility shines. Transitioning, a video package offers a glimpse into Terry Funk's legacy. ## Cody proceeds, acknowledging Terry's relentless passion that stretched from Texas to Tokyo. Terry was fervent, especially in the realm of hardcore wrestling, encompassing tables, ladders, and chairs. Butch utilizes kicks and chops on Dawkins, while Ford and Dawkins collaborate for a double face plant on Butch. ## Ford and Dawkins unleash a barrage of kicks and punches on Ridge, who finds himself cornered. Butch capitalizes, striking Dawkins with a boot as he charges in, and Ford similarly meets the boot as he follows suit. Butch ascends the turnbuckle, delivering a moonsault that impacts both opponents. Ridge employs Butch to knock down Ford and Dawkins with a skillful airplane spin. He then heads to the outside, connecting with a running shoulder tackle on Dawkins. Attempting a pile driver, Ridge's plans are thwarted by Dawkins, who counters with a back body drop. Butch contributes a running knee to Dawkins, while Ford executes a flip dive onto the entire group. ## Interrupting the action, Bobby Lashley's entrance music resonates, drawing him into the ring despite the ongoing match. ## A commercial break follows. ## Returning from the break, Ridge executes a powerful slam on Ford, followed by a series of punches. Butch and Ridge team up, delivering forearms to Ford on the apron while Dawkins falls to the outside. Ridge splashes into the corner, and Butch adds a kick to the corner. Dawkins hoists Ridge onto his shoulders, as Ford contributes a blockbuster, but Butch intervenes, breaking up the pin attempt. Butch dishes out an enzuigiri to Dawkins and Ford consecutively. Ford counters with his own enzuigiri to Butch and follows up with a superkick to Ridge, leaving all participants grounded. ## Dawkins ascends the turnbuckle, and Ridge intercepts his ascent. Ridge positions for a superplex and executes it effectively. Ford scales the ropes, executing a Seven Star Frog Splash on Ridge, but the pinfall is disrupted by Butch. Retrieving a table from under the ring, Butch encounters an unexpected obstacle in the form of Lashley. ## Butch retrieves the table, positioning it within the ring. Ridge proceeds to set up the table, while Butch's attention shifts towards Lashley. Ford intervenes, launching punches directed at both Ridge and Butch. Subsequently, Ford situates the table inside the ring. He readies himself for a uranage through the table, but Ridge counters effectively using his elbows to block the attempt. Ridge successfully elevates Ford and follows with a well-executed back drop and DDT combination. Meanwhile, Butch targets Dawkins' fingers, applying pressure with a pull. ## Ridge's powerful punch sends Dawkins onto the table, setting the stage for Butch's aerial maneuver. However, Lashley disrupts Butch's ascent, forcefully pushing him off the turnbuckles before delivering a decisive spear on the floor. ## Ford seizes the opportunity, employing a swift kick to propel Ridge onto the table. As they synergize their efforts, Ford and Dawkins execute the Revelation through the table, sealing the victory with a decisive three-count. ## WINNER: Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins ## A glimpse into the past brings us to the inaugural Firefly Fun House. In the backstage area, LA Knight makes his entrance. ## Following a commercial break, the broadcast resumes, showcasing further social media posts related to Bray. ## TMZ Sports presents Miz's comments on LA Knight. When asked about Knight, Miz dismisses him as a mere trend. He warns that if Knight continues to show him disrespect as he has been, Knight won't make it to WrestleMania. ## LA Knight strides to the ring, a microphone in hand, ready to address the audience. ## Knight acknowledges that he will address Miz shortly, but emphasizes that the focus tonight is on Bray Wyatt. As he gazes upon the audience representing the fireflies, he reflects on the notion that sometimes one's fiercest adversaries can also be instrumental guides. Recounting the trials he endured with Bray, Knight acknowledges their intense battles, which prepared him for any challenge. Knight admits he remained composed until he encountered the images of Bray's family. The deep emotions connected to those visuals and the fireflies' presence enveloping the arena manifest the enduring spirit of Bray Wyatt. ## Knight acknowledges that he and Bray weren't best friends, but he expresses gratitude, uttering a heartfelt "Thank You, Bray." While not claiming an unbreakable bond, Knight believes that just as the audience feels Bray's spirit, he, too, feels the same, prompting him to close with Bray's signature catchphrase – "Let me talk to ya." ## Miz appears on screen, echoing worn-out rhetoric. He reiterates Miz's previous words, and Knight responds unphased, expressing his contentment with being considered a fad, especially when Miz never truly was the focal point. Knight brings up instances when Miz's prominence was overshadowed by a stunt double or when he became a backdrop to a storyline between The Rock and John Cena. Challenging Miz's intent to end him, Knight affirms his readiness, regardless of the location. ## Knight adds a final statement, recounting advice from a wise individual that the next time Miz encounters him, he should "RUN." ## The broadcast shifts to a retrospective look at Bray's return to WWE, followed by a commercial break. ## Singles Match: Finn Balor Vs LA Knight ## Finn starts off with a well-executed waist lock takedown, transitioning fluidly. They engage in a lock-up, and Knight responds with a hammerlock, punctuating it with a slap to the back of Finn's head. Swiftly, Knight counters Finn's kick, although his subsequent clothesline misses its mark. Finn seizes control with a side headlock, but Knight counters with a shoulder tackle. The action spills to the outside as Finn finds himself on the floor. Knight gives chase, and upon Finn's return to the ring, he attempts an elbow drop that misses its target. Knight focuses on Finn's hand, delivering stomps before heading back to the outside. Knight proceeds to forcefully send Finn into the announce table multiple times. Finn is eventually returned to the ring, where Knight executes a slingshot shoulder tackle, earning a near fall. ## Knight follows up with a kick and shoulders Finn in the corner. An Irish whip from Knight leads to Finn's nimble evasion, although he runs into an elbow from Knight. Finn capitalizes by pulling Knight off the turnbuckles, causing him to hit his head against the corner post. ## As the broadcast continues, it is momentarily interrupted by Bray's promo from a past SmackDown episode in Tampa last December. This serves as a segue into a commercial break. ## The action resumes as Finn applies a reverse chin lock to Knight. Following a knee strike to the midsection, Finn attempts an Irish whip but misses an elbow. Knight capitalizes with a neck breaker, unleashing a series of punches and a kick, followed by a DDT that secures a near fall. Knight sends Finn crashing face-first into the mat and then follows up with a forceful boot to the head for another near fall. ## Finn counters by delivering impactful kicks to Knight's midsection. He proceeds to execute his signature sling blade maneuver, only to be met by a sudden clothesline from Knight. Knight then executes a running hip thrust into the corner. Attempting to gain the upper hand, Knight hoists Finn into a Torture Rack position, but Finn manages to escape and counters with a well-placed boot to Knight's chest. Following this, Finn executes a running dropkick that propels Knight into the turnbuckles. Seizing the opportunity, Finn ascends the turnbuckles, but his Coup de Grace attempt misses its target. Knight quickly retaliates with a powerful power slam. ## Knight surveys the situation before delivering his signature YEAHple's Elbow for a close near fall. Finn counters Knight's BFT finisher into a rollup for another near fall. Elevating the intensity, Finn executes an elevated elbow drop, then ascends the turnbuckles once again. However, Knight counters Finn's momentum by crotching him on the top rope. Knight sets up for a superplex, but Finn responds with an elbow to dislodge Knight from the turnbuckles. In a surprising turn of events, Knight manages to leap back to the turnbuckles, executing a superplex. With momentum on his side, Knight delivers his BFT finisher, securing the victory with a three-count pinfall. ## WINNER: LA Knight ## The lights go down and the lantern appears in the ring. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Indus Sher To Challenge For Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship At WWE Superstar Spectacle

Hyderabad, August 24, 2023 - Reports suggest that Indus Sher is gearing up for a significant match at the WWE Superstar Spectacle in India. The tag team of Veer Mahaan and Sanga has experienced a somewhat inconsistent push within WWE. However, with the prospect of WWE's noteworthy event in India approaching, Jinder Mahal has apparently shared that Indus Sher is on track for a major championship opportunity.## As per information from Sportskeeda, Jinder Mahal has disclosed that Indus Sher is slated to vie for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Their opponents will be Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, and this showdown is expected to take place on September 8. ## While Indus Sher hasn't made appearances on WWE television in a conventional manner since their victory over Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin on the June 19 episode of Monday Night Raw, they did make an appearance on the August 7 episode of WWE Main Event on Hulu. In that appearance, they secured a win against Akira Tozawa and Apollo Crews. ## While WWE has not yet officially confirmed the matches for the forthcoming event, they have shared the exciting news that John Cena will be participating in a wrestling match in India for the very first time on September 8. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...
