Edge's Response To Retirement Rumors Ahead Of WWE SmackDown Match Against Sheamus

Orangeville, August 17, 2023 - In anticipation of his upcoming match against Sheamus on WWE SmackDown on August 18, Edge, who is commemorating his remarkable 25-year journey in WWE, addressed the retirement speculations that have been circulating. ## Notably, Edge had previously expressed the sentiment that concluding his wrestling career in Toronto, the very location of the upcoming SmackDown event, would be a fitting culmination. ## During an interview with ET Canada, Edge candidly responded to inquiries about whether the forthcoming match would mark his final appearance in the ring: ## "Here's what I can honestly say, and this isn't the answer everyone wants. I truly don't know. I really really, with 100% truth can say I don't know. That's strange for me, but I don't. I really don't. I've put some thought into it, but not a lot. This is the last match on my current contract. I don't know. I honestly don't know. ## I probably won't know until I get to the locker room that night and decompress, let all the anxiety and tension that I never used to have before I performed, I have now. That's strange for me and makes it that much harder to do this. I'm going to be 50 in October. It's not easy anymore. Before, what I used to take for granted to be able to do, now, there is a process and a fallout. There's a lot. It's the dream gig, but it's getting really hard," he stated. ## It is noteworthy that Edge had made a resounding return to the ring in 2020, emerging from retirement and making a striking reentry at the 2020 Royal Rumble event. During that juncture, he reportedly entered into a three-year contractual commitment. Edge's most recent engagement inside the squared circle was witnessed on the July 7 edition of WWE SmackDown, where he secured a victory against Grayson Waller.## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Predicting 3 Likely Opponents For Roman Reigns After Back Injury

Pensacola, August 17, 2023 - Roman Reigns, who clinched the Universal Title at Payback 2020 by defeating Braun Strowman and The Fiend, solidified his dominance at WrestleMania 38 by conquering Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE and Universal Championships. During his 1,081-day reign, he defended his title impressively 29 times, confirming his role as the promotion's top star. ## However, despite his 1,079+ day reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, fans have noticed less of The Tribal Chief recently. He appears when the storyline demands, often featuring in standout segments on weekly TV. But after main storylines conclude, it could be months before the top champion returns. ## Following his victory against Jey Uso at SummerSlam, fans are already speculating when a new challenger might emerge for Roman's next title defense. An injury during the August 5th match has raised questions about his future appearances. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful provided an update on Roman's condition and upcoming WWE appearances. ## The report indicates that the injury Roman sustained during 'Tribal Combat' wasn't related to his back. While the exact nature of the injury is unclear, since Roman recently took offense from Jey Uso on SmackDown, it suggests his condition might not be too serious to prevent him from performing. ## As for his return to the ring, Fightful suggests that Roman is expected to make his scheduled dates despite the injury, though the exact number of dates for the next few months hasn't been disclosed yet. However, the upcoming August 18th SmackDown episode won't feature any members of The Bloodline story. Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso seem to be absent for undisclosed reasons. ## Furthermore, Jey Uso, a significant part of The Bloodline, 'quit' the group, SmackDown, and WWE on August 11th, though this is believed to be part of an ongoing storyline. ## Before things get clear, let's have a look at his potential opponents: ## 1. Jey Uso The Bloodline Civil War seems to be continuing, and there's a chance he might go up against his brother, Jimmy, at WWE Payback on September 2. It's also possible that Jey might have another showdown with Roman in the future, considering his impressive performance as 'Main Event Uso' at SummerSlam. ## 2. Bobby Lashley: Bobby Lashley lost the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber 2022 and has been seeking a rematch since then. The Elimination Chamber match had an unfortunate ending for Lashley, as Seth Rollins power-bombed Austin Theory through Lashley's pod, causing a shoulder injury to the champion and forcing him to exit the match. ## Lashley revived his old feud with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and ultimately defeated The Beast at Elimination Chamber 2023. Starting from May, Lashley has made a couple of appearances and is being considered as a possible contender for the title match. ## 3. Jimmy Uso: Undoubtedly, the most apparent pick for the contender's position was Jimmy Uso. It was widely anticipated that he would vie for the title at SummerSlam. If not for an unfortunate injury, he likely would have headlined the grand summer event. Some speculate that jealousy might have played a role in Jimmy's decision to betray his brother, instigating the Bloodline civil war. He was the initial one to turn against the Tribal Chief, according to many opinions. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

WWE WrestleMania 40 Main Event: Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns 2 To Settle The Score

Philadelphia, August 15, 2023 - Just over a week has passed since SummerSlam, and the ongoing focal point remains The Bloodline's key members: Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, Jey "Deuces Uces" Uso, and the betrayer of Jey at the aforementioned event, Jimmy Uso. ## Nevertheless, thoughts are already circulating about WWE's plans for WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, next spring. One individual potentiall y involved in the process is WWE Senior Vice President of Live Events, Brian "Road Dogg" James. ## In the recent edition of his podcast, "Oh You Didn't Know," the former New Age Outlaws member shared his insights. With his finger seemingly not yet on the pulse of Mania's direction, he unveiled his hypothetical choice for the ultimate WrestleMania main event, if he were at the helm of WWE's booking. ## "I'm gonna say Cody vs. Roman 2," Road Dogg said. "That's what I'm saying. And I think ... I don't know what else you go with, unless something else really blows up quick, you know what I mean? 'Cause this thing's hotter than fire right now, man. And it just feels so good, it feels so right.  ## "And people were so mad that he didn't get it the first time, and that 'He's got to finish the story ...' This dude has caught on as a real babyface, and a real-life babyface, not a character. You know what I mean? He's done something that very few have done and he continues to do it. So that's my pick." ## WrestleMania 40 Ticket Updates WWE has clarified that there are no single-day tickets priced at $10,000 for WrestleMania. The top-tier cost remains at $5,000 for direct purchase, consistent with the pricing structure in Los Angeles. The starting price remains at $25, just as it was in Los Angeles, maintaining the same initial cost point for the first round of ticket sales for both events. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

WWE Clears Up Confusion Over WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

Stamford, August 15, 2023 - A somewhat questionable title switch on Raw has now been officially clarified by WWE. The situation involving the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship was addressed on last night's episode of Raw, following Sonya Deville's announcement of her torn ACL a week earlier. ## Due to Deville's injury, which is expected to keep her out of action for around six months to a year, a decision needed to be made regarding the tag team championship she held with Chelsea Green. ## Over the weekend, Green organized an online event called "Chelsea's Got Talent," where she sought auditions for a new partner. Although this concept wasn't directly incorporated into TV, it was briefly mentioned. On Raw, a segment took place featuring Green and Adam Pearce debating their next steps. ## This interaction was interrupted by another tag team, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, who were subsequently ambushed by the returning Piper Niven. Niven proclaimed herself as Green's new tag team partner, a decision that Green didn't vocally oppose but seemed visibly discontent about. After Raw aired, WWE's official website was updated to confirm that Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are now recognized as the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. ## WWE has addressed the situation that arose due to Sonya Deville's injury, and the new tag team champions are officially recognized as Chelsea Green and Piper Niven following the events on Raw. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Becky Lynch Vs Trish Stratus Set In Steel Cage Match After Double Count-Out On 8/14 WWE Raw

Limerick, August 14, 2023 - Becky Lynch finally had her rematch against Trish Stratus during the August 14 WWE Raw episode, but unfortunately, the match concluded without a clear winner. ## The tension between the two began in April when Stratus attacked Lynch after they lost the Women's Tag Team Championships to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. This dispute led to their first singles encounter at the Night Of Champions event. ## Stratus emerged victorious, aided by her new partner Zoey Stark's interference. 'The Man' engaged in another battle against Trish Stratus on the August 14 episode of WWE Raw. Regrettably, the highly anticipated match concluded in a double-countout, with both stars exchanging blows within the audience area and even spilling into the concourse. ## It was there that Zoey Stark intervened, attacking Lynch and assisting Stratus in leaving "The Man" incapacitated. Following the match, WWE official Adam Pearce approached Stratus and Stark backstage. He informed them that Lynch and Stratus would face off once more, but this time within the confines of a Steel Cage Match, eliminating the possibility of a count-out ending. As of now, the date for this rematch remains undisclosed. ## FAR FROM OVER!#WWERAW pic.twitter.com/mAbCiOFY5o— WWE on TNT Sports (@wweontnt) August 15, 2023 ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Cody Rhodes Weight Belt And Usos 'We The Ones' Shirts Among Top-Selling WWE Items

Hagerstown, August 13, 2023 - There has been substantial discourse surrounding the leading merchandise vendors within WWE. Notably, Fightful has managed to uncover additional insights through recent live event inventories. Since the initial publication, further revelations have come to light. ## Cody Rhodes has consistently occupied the apex of various rankings, often with multiple items securing positions within the top echelons. ## A significant transformative occurrence stemmed from the divergence of The Bloodline faction, previously amalgamated in assessments. This amalgamation encompassed Roman Reigns, the Usos, and combined Bloodline merchandise. This conglomerate has now separated, resulting in the Usos demonstrating remarkable prowess, outperforming all peers save Cody Rhodes in sales. ## Seth Rollins has persistently emerged as a fixture in the uppermost tiers of the charts. Likewise, Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley have featured in the ones. ## Generic WWE merchandise consistently commands the leading positions in these rankings. Notably, items such as title belts and tour attire reign supreme. Specifically, miniature replica title belts and Cody Rhodes' weight belts, along with the Usos' "We The Ones" apparel, have enjoyed significant commercial success within the WWE merchandise realm. ## For those inquiring about LA Knight, credible sources indicate that a substantial proportion of his sales are digitally transacted through strategic partnerships with third-party vendors. In these evaluations, it's evident that Knight boasts individual shirts that rival the popularity of offerings from Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. ## However, the prevailing charts, typically derived from best-selling considerations, omit the impact of live events. In fact, there have been reports of internal contention recently concerning the inadequacy of merchandise availability for LA Knight during certain recent live presentations. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Rollins found Nakamura's attack puzzling, considering he could have simply asked for a title shot instead of resorting to such actions. ## Rollins referred to himself as a fighting champion who once held great respect for Nakamura until last week's incident. He emphasized that if Nakamura wanted a title shot, he could have approached him directly. Rollins downplayed the "why" behind Nakamura's actions and focused on the "how" he could exact revenge. ## Rollins granted Nakamura's wish for a title match, highlighting that in order for Rollins to achieve his own desires, he would make Nakamura's wish come true as well. He announced the title match, leaving Nakamura pleased. Rollins proposed Nakamura name the time and place, so he could defeat him. To solidify the agreement, Rollins extended his hand for a shake. ## Nakamura shook Rollins' hand before whispering something into his ear, visibly surprising Rollins. As Rollins looked around in confusion, Nakamura swiftly delivered a Kinshasa, flooring Rollins. ## Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch ## Stratus delivered a headbutt to Lynch using her facemask, but Lynch managed to fight back and execute an exploder. During the encounter, Stratus' facemask came off, prompting a brief pause as the referee allowed her to put it back on. Stratus then attempted a handstand headscissors takedown, though she stumbled and had to make another attempt. At one point, Stratus removed her mask and tried to employ it as a weapon. However, Lynch snatched it away from her. As the referee was engaged in handling the mask, Stratus capitalized and knocked Lynch down. ## Following a commercial break, Lynch mounted a comeback with strikes and a leg drop for a near fall. Stratus rallied with a spear, also resulting in a two-count. Stratus then aimed for a tornado DDT, but Lynch countered and executed a superplex for another near fall. ## In an unexpected turn, Stratus attempted to flee into the crowd, prompting Lynch to pursue her. Suddenly, the bell rang, and the match was abruptly declared over as the referee signaled for a double countout. ## WINNER: ended in a double countout ## The action continued outside the ring, with Lynch and Stratus battling their way up the stairs and into the concourse area, where fans were conveniently separated from the fray. ## The altercation persisted near a merchandise table until Zoey Stark, concealed by a hood, intervened by attacking Lynch. Seizing the opportunity, Stratus delivered a Chick Kick that left Lynch incapacitated. ## Gunther expressed his frustration to Vinci and Kaiser, calling the situation tonight a total embarrassment. Gunther was unsure about what to do with Vinci, who had been letting him down since they arrived at Raw. Additionally, Kaiser wasn't fulfilling his responsibilities because he was too focused on a girl. ## Kaiser apologized and offered to talk to Pearce to resolve the issue, but Gunther declined the offer. Gunther stated that he would handle the matter himself, as he usually does. He also mentioned that he's going to defend the IC title against Gable next week. ## Pearce confronted Stratus and Stark backstage, clearly angry. He informed them that Stratus and Lynch would have a rematch in a steel cage. ## Cody Rhodes Vs Finn Bálor ## With Rhodes on the outside of the ring, Dom rushed down in a comically exaggerated manner, aiming to attack, but Rhodes kicked him away. This distraction allowed Bálor to execute a baseball slide and gain control before a break. ## Even after the break, Dom and Ripley were still lingering at ringside, even though Dom was clearly trying to interfere right in front of the referee. ## Rhodes countered with a powerslam and Disaster Kick for a two-count. Priest then made his way down to the ring as Bálor used a slingblade and headlock elbow drop on Rhodes for another two-count. Rhodes managed to evade a Coup de Grace and delivered a Cody Cutter. ## While the referee's attention was diverted, Priest tripped Rhodes, but Rhodes fought him off and took out both Priest and Bálor with a dive. As Ripley distracted the referee, Dom crotched Rhodes on the top rope. Bálor followed up with a superplex that resulted in a near fall. ## Dom slid a chair into the ring, but the referee intervened and removed it. With the ref once again distracted by Ripley, Priest slid a briefcase into the ring, which slipped right under Bálor's hands and ended up in Rhodes' possession. ## Taking advantage of the situation, Rhodes used the briefcase (with the ref's back turned), knocked down Priest, and then hit Bálor with his Cross Rhodes finisher for the pinfall victory. ## WINNER: Cody Rhodes ## After the match, Dom and Bálor launched an attack on Rhodes. However, Zayn rushed in wielding a chair to rescue Rhodes. Zayn managed to fend off Priest, but McDonagh caught him off guard from behind. The members of Judgment Day teamed up to beat down both Zayn and Rhodes, while McDonagh observed from the sidelines. Bálor executed a Coup de Grace on Rhodes inside the ring and delivered another one to Zayn outside the ring. ## They then cleared a table, and Priest powerbombed Zayn through it using his Razor's Edge move. Bálor followed up by hitting Rhodes with yet another Coup de Grace. ## With their collective mission accomplished, Judgment Day shared an embrace and stood tall together as the show came to an end. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Vienna, August 13, 2023 - Gunther has reached another big milestone during his remarkable reign as the Intercontinental Champion, and he shared his celebration on social media. ## The Intercontinental Championship run by The Ring General has been incredibly dominant in recent times, just like Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reings. ## He made his debut on the main roster in April 2022, and in June, Gunther snatched the Intercontinental title, maintaining an undefeated singles record for over 16 months. ## Adding to his reign's dominance, Gunther now has another achievement that makes his belt-holding even more historic, having already surpassed wrestling legends like Randy Savage, The Rock, and Mr. Perfect. ## On August 9th, 2023, Gunther surpassed Pedro Morales to become the second-longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history, with a reign of 245 days. ## The only superstar to hold the title for a longer time is The Honky Tonk Man, who held it for an impressive 454 days. If Gunther can keep the title until September 8th, he'll take the record for the longest championship reign ever. ## The leader of Imperium, along with his stablemates Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, marked the accomplishment on X (formerly Twitter). They posted a strong and fitting picture with the championship belt. ## 📈 pic.twitter.com/cDmcAV8qDs— GUNTHER (@Gunther_AUT) August 12, 2023 ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...
