John Bradshaw Layfield Makes A Return To The Commentary Table During 12/8 WWE SmackDown

Stamford, December 8 - WWE SmackDown's special Tribute to the Troops episode delivered a delightful surprise for fans, featuring a very special guest on color commentary. ## John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL), a SmackDown legend and the creative mind behind the Tribute to the Troops concept, made a return to the commentary table during the December 8 episode of WWE SmackDown. He teamed up with Kevin Patrick and Michael Cole to provide insightful commentary for the evening's action. ## Michael Cole took a moment to acknowledge JBL's significant contribution to the Tribute to the Troops event, giving him credit for originating the idea for this annual holiday tradition back in 2003.## Cole emphasized that both he and JBL have been part of every single iteration of this heartwarming event, underscoring their steadfast commitment to honoring the troops. JBL's presence at the commentary desk stirred nostalgia for his time as the regular color commentator on WWE SmackDown following his retirement in 2006. ## During his in-ring career, Bradshaw had been a dominant force on SmackDown, holding the WWE Championship when it was exclusive to the brand from WWE Judgment Day 2004 until he was dethroned by John Cena at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Seth Rollins On If He Is In A Position To Turn Down Working With CM Punk: 'I'm Open To Mending Fences'

Stamford, December 8 - Seth Rollins recently shared his thoughts on the unexpected return of CM Punk to WWE at Survivor Series. ## The surprise comeback occurred after the WarGames match, where Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes emerged victorious over Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest, & JD McDonagh) & Drew McIntyre. Rollins, visibly agitated, screamed and gestured at Punk while being restrained by Corey Graves. ## In a conversation with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media podcast, Rollins was asked if he is in a position to turn down working with Punk. ## "It's a negotiation. It's a conversation. No one is forcing something on you, but I'm a businessman, for sure, I'm hoping to do business, if it's there to be done. I'm open to mending fences, if that's even possible. I know that might sound crazy, but I'm open to it. I'm almost 38, and I ain't got time to hold all these grudges. I think it's a lot of energy to hold that negativity in, and I'd like to put that energy somewhere else and make it positive. ## I'm open to all different facets of what this could be. There are certain conversations that go on, it's not a cut and dry, 'you have to do this.' Sometimes, it is. I've been in positions where it's like, 'this is your job, I pay you the check. This is what I want you to do,' and that's just how it is. That's okay too. ## If you don't like it, you can skip it and we don't have to do business. I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to stuff like that. I think there will be a way to make it work for everybody. He says he's the Best in the World, that ain't the case, I'm the Best in the World. I'll make anything work, no matter who it is," said Rollins. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Report: Sami Zayn Has Asked For Time Off, And WWE Granted It

Stamford, December 8 - Sami Zayn is set to take an indefinite break from WWE television, as he is currently on hiatus.## The year 2023 has marked significant success for the popular WWE star. He initially joined The Bloodline, a formidable faction featuring the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, The Usos, Paul Heyman, and Solo Sikoa. However, Zayn later broke away from The Bloodline, aligning himself with Kevin Owens after a dramatic turn of events at the Royal Rumble, where he intervened to save Owens from further punishment. ## One of the highlights of Zayn's year was headlining the Elimination Chamber PLE in February against Roman Reigns in his hometown. At WrestleMania 39, Zayn and Owens secured a victory over The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles, enjoying a lengthy reign before eventually dropping the titles and being separated. ## During a recent episode of Raw, Zayn was involved in an injury angle during his match with Drew McIntyre, allowing McIntyre to claim the victory. Following the match, Zayn received medical attention and was attacked by McIntyre. ## According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that Zayn has requested time off, and WWE has granted him the hiatus. ## Meltzer wrote, “I don’t have it confirmed [that] Zayn will be off for a while due to that ]injury angle], but do know that he had asked for time off recently and was granted it.” ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

5 Possible Things To Anticipate On WWE Friday Night SmackDown On December 8, 2023

Stamford, December 8 - WWE fans are eagerly anticipating this Friday's edition of SmackDown, which is a special Tribute to the Troops episode set to take place on December 8, 2023, at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, RI.## Friday Night SmackDown currently airs live every Friday on Fox from 8:00 ET–10:00 PM ET in the United States, while WWE SmackDown starts live at 1 am in the UK on BT Sport 1 on Saturday mornings.## As of the current writing, the show has five segments on its list. Firstly, after celebrating his return on Monday Night Raw, Punk is now set to reemerge on SmackDown. Asuka and Charlotte Flair will collide in a singles match. ## The show will also feature two WWE United States Title Tournament Matches. In the first-round match, Dragon Lee will lock horns with Santos Escobar, and the second first-round match features Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross. Additionally, Randy Orton will team up with LA Knight to take on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. ## #1. Randy Orton & LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa To Main Event ## WWE has recently added a colossal tag team bout to this Friday's lineup, featuring Randy Orton & LA Knight squaring off against Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa. Last week on SmackDown, Orton officially declared SmackDown as his home. Before signing with SmackDown, Orton found himself face-to-face with Sikoa and Uso. The odds were equalized by Knight, allowing Orton to execute a stunning RKO on Jimmy. The stage is now set for an intense showdown between these two dynamic teams. ## The bout appears massive as it includes some of the top stars on the main roster. Therefore, I believe it should headline the main event, with Randy Orton & LA Knight emerging victorious in the match. ## #2. CM Punk Confronts Some New Challenger From The Blue Brand ## Since CM Punk is a (kayfabe) "free agent," he can appear on any WWE brand. Punk has featured in two consecutive episodes of Raw since making his return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames. Now, Punk is set to reemerge on SmackDown.## For the time being, CM Punk is only announced to appear on the show, but it's possible that he could be facing stars from the blue brand. ## #3. Ridge Holland vs. Bobby Lashley ## Despite an extraordinary effort from Butch, The All Mighty laid waste to him last week on SmackDown. So, there is a high possibility that Ridge Holland could be up against Bobby Lashley. ## #4. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka of Damage CTRL To Face Some Intruption ## In the wake of the brutal Women’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series, Charlotte Flair will go to battle against Asuka. Since Kairi Sane made her return to WWE, Asuka has somewhat aligned herself with Damage CTRL. For sure, Sane would be ringside to secure a win for Asuka. So, there is a possibility that we might have a DQ finish. ## #5. Kevin Owens Provides An Update On His Injured Hand ## Last week on SmackDown, Logan Paul made a return to announce an intense battle for the No. 1 Contender spot to the U.S. Title. The contenders included Santos Escobar, Bobby Lashley, Dragon Lee, Karrion Kross, Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, Kevin Owens, and a Superstar from NXT. ## Kevin Owens confronted the Social Media Superstar and delivered a punch to the emerging Austin Theory's face. Despite Theory injuring Kevin Owens' hand outside the ring, the resilient KO fought back and executed a quick victory by rolling up Grayson Waller. ## Later in the show, Owens announced that he would undergo an X-ray on his injured hand. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Kazuchika Okada Set To Rejoin The Ranks Of TNA Wrestling At The TNA Snake Eyes Event

Nashville, December 7 - Kazuchika Okada, akin to TNA Wrestling's rich history, stands on the cusp of a remarkable opportunity for redemption as he prepares for his highly anticipated return to the TNA brand at the upcoming Snake Eyes taping in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Nevada. ## This revelation came to light during the December 7th episode of IMPACT on AXS, where it was revealed that Kazuchika Okada is set to re-enter the world of TNA Wrestling at the TNA Snake Eyes event slated for Sunday, January 14, 2023. ## Okada's initial tenure in TNA occurred between 2010 and 2011. Regrettably, that period did not unfold as favorably as anticipated, and the manner in which he was utilized strained the relationship between NJPW and TNA/IMPACT for several years. ## Nevertheless, his triumphant return to the brand in 2024 serves as a testament to the idea that time has the power to heal all wounds. ## Notably, emerging reports suggest that Okada might potentially explore free agency in 2024. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Stamford, December 7 - WWE SmackDown has just added an exciting tag team bout to its Friday lineup.## In the upcoming episode on December 8, Randy Orton is set to join forces with LA Knight to face off against the Bloodline duo of Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Orton recently declared a free agent upon his return at WWE Survivor Series but officially inked a deal with the blue brand during last Friday's SmackDown. ## Before signing with SmackDown, Orton found himself confronted by Sikoa and Uso. The odds were leveled by Knight, allowing Orton to deliver a stunning RKO to Jimmy. The stage is now set for an intense showdown between these two dynamic teams. ## Additionally, the show promises a riveting singles match between Charlotte Flair and Asuka. Braun Strowman Gives An Update On His Injury And A Possible Royal Rumble Return

Stamford, December 7 - Braun Strowman has been sidelined since May, having undergone neck fusion surgery in June. On November 2, he shared positive news from his doctor.## In a recent interview with News18, Strowman offered a more comprehensive update on his current condition. In the interview, Strowman mentioned undergoing his five-month check-up with Dr. Cordoba at the renowned Andrews Medical Centre, where he was fortunate to have his surgery performed by the world's leading surgeon. ## Following the check-up, he received medical clearance to resume lifting weights. Strowman revealed that he had four screws and a metal plate inserted into his neck during the surgery, and he lost 35 pounds during the recovery period. ## When questioned about the possibility of making a comeback at the Royal Rumble, Strowman responded as follows: ## "You know when I’m back. Just know that. I don’t know yet; if I could be back in Rumble, that’d be great. But like I said, I’m at the mercy of the doctors and what they say. I’m listening to them because this was a very serious injury that I had. So slow and steady as the process on the company is so supportive behind me and stuff. I’m staying busy now.## Normally, I probably wouldn’t be here right now doing this if it wasn’t for that. You always take the glass half full line, find your blessings and everything. So now that I’m out with the surgery, I’ve gotten cleared to be able to travel and stuff. So now they’re going to send me around doing all the media stuff. So that’s why I’m here. So it’s an unbelievable blessing to be able to continue to work, do what I love, and get the output, and reaction on people’s faces." ## It should be noted that Braun Strowman is currently in India for WWE promotional appearances. However, it's unclear when he will be making his in-ring appearance. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Main Reason Why 12/1 WWE SmackDown Viewership Was Lower Than Usual

Stamford, December 7 - WWE consistently strategizes to enhance the quality of their shows, prioritizing the delivery of an unparalleled product for fans week after week. However, the recent shockingly low viewership of SmackDown on December 1st had a notable explanation.## The live broadcast of the December 1st episode emanated from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, offering fans a post-Survivor Series aftermath and the aftermath of intense WarGames matches. The return of United States Champion Logan Paul marked a significant segment, unveiling a new United States tournament. Additionally, the blue brand witnessed the much-anticipated return of Randy Orton, solidifying an exclusive deal with SmackDown.## Despite these engaging elements, the episode garnered an overnight average viewership of 2,044,000, accompanied by a 0.59 rating in the coveted P18-49 demographic. This figure surprised fans, constituting SmackDown's lowest total viewership on Fox since August 2022. ## Dave Meltzer, in his analysis on Wrestling Observer Radio, shed light on the reasons behind the lower viewership on December 1st compared to typical weeks. He pointed out that the Oregon-Washington NFL game, taking place on Friday, drew a significant portion of SmackDown's regular viewership, contributing to the unexpected dip in ratings. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...
