Cody Rhodes Not Giving Up On Roman Reigns Rematch: 'That's My Goal'

Marietta, 8 August 2023 - Cody Rhodes made a big comeback to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and quickly became a top star. Within just a year, he found himself headlining WrestleMania 39. However, things didn't go as fans had hoped, and now it seems he's still aiming for a rematch with Roman Reigns. ## At WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes took on Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Fans all around the globe were hoping that Rhodes would finally put an end to Reigns' title reign. Sadly, that didn't happen. Roman Reigns emerged victorious, with a lot of interference from The Bloodline causing a stir. ## Cody Rhodes' defeat left many fans and fellow wrestlers upset. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, The American Nightmare talked about his desire for a rematch with The Tribal Chief. He's determined to make that rematch a reality and isn't giving up on it. ## "I know what I want, I know what I’m working to attain. I had other challenges before. Getting back, this is the biggest obstacle yet. ## That’s my goal: get back. And that’s what I’m fighting to do.” ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...

In Canada, AEW Dynamite is available through the TSN website. In India, AEW Dynamite airs on Eurosport every Thursday at 5:30 AM IST. ## The show is available on the TSN Direct streaming service at 10 pm Eastern, the same time that the show will air live on TNT and FITE TV. ## AEW Dynamite Results August 9, 2023: Highlights The Jericho Appreciation Society (JAS) is already in the ring for their mandatory meeting. Chris Jericho makes his entrance. Every member of the JAS, including a pregnant Tay Conti, is in the ring. However, their gathering is immediately interrupted by Daniel Garcia. He's visibly displeased with what transpired last week. Garcia asserts that if Jericho didn't choose them, then they won't choose Jericho either, and he walks away. ## Jake Hager grabs the microphone and reminds Jericho that he has other options. Hager expresses his discontent with Jericho and exits the scene. ## A somber Ocho takes the mic, commending Ana JAS and Tay Conti. Tay, however, is disappointed with the current state of the JAS and decides to quit. Ana appears equally disheartened and follows suit, leaving the ring together. ## Angelo and Matt step forward and take the microphone. Angelo announces his resignation from the JAS and departs. Menard, while speaking positively about Jericho, is clearly devastated. He confesses that it never sat well with him that his longtime associates now hold a grudge against Jericho, and he walks away in sorrow. ## Sammy Guevara intervenes, slapping the microphone out of Jericho's hand. He expresses his reluctance to abandon Jericho entirely, hinting that perhaps he was too quick to judge the situation with the Ocho. Sammy advises Jericho to sort out the ongoing issues and then leaves. ## In the backstage area, Don Callis approaches Jericho. Callis informs Le Champion that he will receive Callis' answer next week. ## The Young Bucks vs. Matt & Jeff Hardy ## In the early moments, the Hardys took command, employing effective double-team tactics that sent Nick tumbling to the outside. They followed up with a dual wheelbarrow suplex on Matt, securing a near fall. A sit-out powerbomb in the corner set the stage for a tandem cover on Matt, surprisingly counted by Rick Knox, but the count was broken by Nick. Attempting a Poetry in Motion, the Hardys were thwarted as Matt evaded, and Nick caught Jeff with a corner enzuigiri. After tagging in, Nick unleashed a flurry of offense, including a slingshot face buster and a moonsault to the outside, culminating in Matt Hardy being struck by the Risky Business. Matt feigned a dive, with Nick executing a twisting plancha to take out both Hardys just before the commercial break. ## Action persisted during the break, as Nick managed to dodge a Twist of Fate. However, Matt Hardy adjusted and drove Nick into the mat with a DDT. Just as Jeff was nearing a tag, Matt Jackson intervened by yanking his leg, briefly isolating the Bucks' opponent before a double clothesline prompted a reset. The two Matts engaged in a slugfest, culminating in Jackson colliding head-on with a Side Effect. Simultaneous tags followed, with Jeff unleashing his offense, including a low leg drop and a snappy dropkick. Jeff pushed back both Bucks, executing a Whisper in the Wind that took them out, only for Nick and Matt to counter a double Twist of Fate into superkicks, subsequently landing a 3-D on Jeff. Evading the Meltzer Driver, the Hardys turned the tide with dual Twist of Fates. Jeff then soared with a Swanton on Nick, narrowly receiving a two-count that Matt broke. ## After this whirlwind of action, Matt Hardy legally tagged in, leading to multiple Twist of Fates on Nick. However, Matt skillfully superkicked Jeff's leg as he attempted another Whisper in the Wind. In a swift sequence, Matt Jackson engaged in a backslide on Matt Hardy, swiftly transitioning into the BTE Trigger, sealing the victory for the Young Bucks. ## WINNER: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson w/Brandon Cutler) ## Following the match, The Bucks stood ready to respond to FTR's challenge from Collision. The AEW Tag Team Champions made their entrance, leading to a tense stare-down between the two teams. Nick then declared "All In," confirming their acceptance of the challenge, while FTR proudly displayed their titles. ## Footage of Hikaru Shida's recent Women's Title victory played, with Excalibur informing us that the title would be defended at All In in a Four-Way match. The participants were revealed: Toni Storm, who was exercising her rematch clause; the victor of Saraya vs. Skye Blue on Rampage; the winner of The Bunny vs. Britt Baker on Dynamite the following week; and the triumphant contender from tonight's Women's Title match between Shida and Anna Jay. ## In a segment from last week, Adam Cole and MJF were seen celebrating their main event announcement for All In, enjoying a visit to a trampoline park. Cole expressed his excitement, but MJF appeared less enthused until they discovered the prospect of dodgeball. MJF embraced the dodgeball game with gusto, enthusiastically hurling balls at children and peppering them with his trademark insults. Amidst the hilarity, a little girl confidently approached, branded them as losers, and promptly flipped them off, leaving a trail of knocked-down kids in her wake. Cole granted MJF one more throw, leading to a gleeful MJF launching the ball just before the commercial break. This segment was an absolute delight, evoking comparisons to Adam Sandler's antics in Billy Madison. ## Backstage, the crew from Blackpool Combat Club wanted to make sure that the Best Friends got the message loud and clear following the intense Parking Lot Brawl on Rampage. Moxley even mentioned how they hoped that Trent's mom, Sue, received the flowers they sent her. ## For tonight, they're ready to capitalize on their victory and take advantage of any opportunities that come their way. They also didn't hold back from talking some smack about PAC, noting that it's a shame he won't be present at All In. The Blackpool Combat Club made it clear that they don't fear death; in fact, they believe that death should be the one afraid of them. ## Jack Perry Vs Rob Van Dam in a FTW Rules Match For FTW Title ## In the FTW Rules match, where pretty much anything goes and falls count anywhere, Perry, sporting some fresh new gear, made his move during RVD's introduction. However, RVD swiftly turned the tables, countering with a leg trap roll-up that almost sealed the deal with a quick two-count. Perry decided to retreat and extend a hand for a handshake, but RVD wasn't having any of it. RVD was gearing up for his signature Rolling Thunder move when Perry wisely exited the ring, avoiding the impending attack.## Outside the ring, RVD laid Perry across the barricade and executed a punishing spinning legdrop off the apron, leaving Perry worse for wear as the show headed into a commercial break.## As the action resumed, Perry managed to seize control, but his fortunes took a turn when he missed a chance to execute his own Rolling Thunder move. An opportunistic moment unfolded as a chair got stuck in the corner, and a table was set up on the outside floor. RVD capitalized by delivering an impressive monkey flip and a running dropkick while wielding a chair in the corner.## With Perry positioned on a chair, RVD unleashed his Rolling Thunder move, but Perry managed to elude RVD's split-legged moonsault. Perry cleverly dodged the Van Daminator move and tossed a chair directly at referee Bryce, temporarily sending him out of commission. Perry used this distraction to his advantage, cutting off RVD in the corner.## However, Perry's momentum took an abrupt halt when RVD propelled him off the top rope and through a waiting table on the outside. Rolling Perry back into the ring, RVD executed his signature Five Star Frog Splash, seemingly securing a pin. Yet, to RVD's dismay, the referee was incapacitated and unable to make the count.## Referee Aubrey then hurried into the ring to officiate the match. RVD managed a near fall, but a dispute over the count ensued. This opening allowed Perry to seize the moment, delivering a low blow to RVD and smashing him into a chair placed in the corner. This maneuver set the stage for Perry to roll up RVD in a schoolboy pin, ultimately securing the victory. ## WINNER: Jack Perry ## MJF & Adam Cole make a Zero Hour challenge ## MJF greeted the Midwest fans with open arms, asserting that prior footage depicting him as dismissive of their region had been craftily edited. He insisted that, in truth, he holds the Midwest in high regard and it's actually his favorite spot in the whole of the U.S. ## Cole chimed in, reminiscing about making history at All In, and confidently declared that he'll clinch victory over MJF for the AEW title. MJF swiftly fired back, playfully suggesting a promo face-off. He poked fun at Cole's slim frame and fair complexion, humorously implying that Hogan might not have taken him seriously back in the 80s. ## But before MJF could continue his verbal barrage, Cole intervened, expressing his disinterest in a promo contest. MJF quickly realized he had misread the situation and refrained. ## Cole shifted the conversation, reflecting on the shared hope that both he and MJF would emerge as AEW Tag Team titleholders. However, Cole disclosed his aspiration for a different pair of tag titles – the ROH Tag Titles. He highlighted his deep-rooted connection with Ring of Honor and the titles he'd secured, except for the elusive tag team championship. Cole suggested a challenge for the ROH Tag Titles at Zero Hour, ahead of All In, aiming to add more gold to their collections. ## MJF playfully chided Cole, labeling him a "sick pervert" for entertaining the notion of wrestling twice in one evening. With a dash of camaraderie, MJF and the fans rallied together, officially putting forth a challenge to Aussie Open for the ROH Tag Titles at All In Zero Hour. ## The situation took a twist as Roderick Strong stormed onto the scene, vociferously objecting to Cole's plan to partner with MJF for the ROH Tag Titles. Strong expressed his disappointment, feeling slighted that Cole didn't consider him, a bona fide ROH legend, as his tag partner. ## In response, MJF ridiculed Strong, suggesting he retreat to his abode, drown his sorrows while listening to Taylor Swift, and shake off his grievances like an uninspired soul. A further complication arose when Matt Taven and Mike Bennett joined the fray, embracing Strong. MJF remarked on Cole's choice of company, leading to a minor confrontation. ## To settle the tension, MJF and Cole reconciled, sharing a hug. MJF then urged Cole to check on Strong, and the incident concluded with a nod of understanding. ## Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli Vs The Lucha Bros (Penta el Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes) ## Fenix and Penta sneaked up from behind and took down Moxley and Castagnoli with double dives right when the bell rang. Penta nailed a top rope double stomp on Castagnoli, and Fenix's dive on Moxley was no surprise, causing Moxley to bleed. Penta tried his "Made in Penta" move, but Castagnoli kicked out at two. Castagnoli dodged a double superkick, making the Lucha Bros collide. Moxley tagged in and hit a double DDT, taking down both opponents. Penta countered a Death Rider with a Sling Blade, and Castagnoli used referee Aubrey as cover, letting Yuta hit Fenix with the ROH Title. A press slam into a cutter isolated Fenix while the commercial break rolled. ## Coming back, Fenix ate a spike piledriver that Taz said messed up his own neck once. In a Doomsday Device-like position, Moxley missed a clothesline, and Fenix countered with a roll-up double stomp on Castagnoli. Penta got fiery after the hot tag, dishing out a cazadora face buster on Moxley and a backstabber on Castagnoli. Fenix got tagged in, and chaos ensued before Moxley planted Penta with a cutter, and Fenix swiftly countered with a superkick before everyone hit the mat. Fenix and Castagnoli exchanged strikes, leading to Fenix's comeback spin kick, and Penta leapt off the top only to be nailed by an uppercut in mid-air. ## Penta and Moxley exchanged chops, going at it before Penta nailed a double team stalling piledriver. Yuta grabbed Fenix's leg right in front of the ref, and Abrahantes started jawing with Yuta. However, Yuta got hit with a moonsault. Penta went for the Fear Factor, but Castagnoli tore off Penta's mask. This distraction allowed Moxley to get a roll-up, grabbing the tights for the win. ## WINNER: Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli ## After the match, The BCC continued their attack, with Castagnoli putting on Penta's mask during the assault. Moxley yelled that zero respect was what they were showing. ## -Kenny Omega was seen backstage walking, and Alex Marvez caught up with him. Marvez mentioned The Young Bucks challenging FTR at All In. Omega mentioned that he would be having a sit-down chat with Jim Ross next week to discuss his future, Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, and his plans for All In. Marvez tried to get a juicy detail, but he came up empty-handed. ## The whole Mogul Embassy crew made their entrance to the ring, led by Prince Nana, who talked some trash about the crowd. Swerve Strickland grabbed the mic and shared how he, Fox, and Nana had a point to prove after attending the Buddy Wayne Academy. He made it clear whose territory they were in. Fox wasted no time and called out Darby Allin, who appeared and demanded Fox spill the entire story about how Allin tried to support him in times of need. Fox made it to AEW on his own, but he was unhappy that Allin didn't put in a good word for him, instead favoring Nick Wayne. Although Fox had some new buddies, Allin had his own crew. ## The arena went dark, and when the lights came back on, Sting was standing in the ring, swinging a bat and taking down The Gates of Agony and Brian Cage. AR Fox wisely backed away, leaving Sting facing off against Strickland. Sting pointed up at the All In sign, while Strickland was pulled out of harm's way by Nana. Sting and Allin remained standing tall in the ring. A challenge was thrown down for a Coffin Match in London, and we found out that Tony Khan had made it official: Sting and Allin would face Strickland and Fox. ## AEW Women’s Title Match: Hikaru Shida Vs Anna Jay (w/Matt Menard & Angelo Parker) ## During the match, Excalibur brought up how Jay's debut in AEW back in 2020 was against Shida. A jumping knee from Jay caught Shida off guard early on, followed by ten corner punches. Jay managed to wriggle free and was pushed over the top rope to the outside, where Menard & Parker didn't waste time to taunt her. Jay dominated throughout the entire commercial break, but Shida came back with a running elbow as soon as they returned to the action. ## Jay rolled onto the apron, and Shida tried to suplex her back in, but Jay surprised her with a spin kick instead. Both women battled on the apron, and Shida landed a pump kick before grabbing a chair from beneath the ring. Shida set the chair up, seemingly for a launching point, but Parker intervened and distracted Shida, allowing Jay to slam her into the ring steps. Back inside the ring, Jay scored a two-count before applying a Queen Slayer submission. Shida managed to climb to the second rope with Jay still on her back and fell backward to break free from the hold. Shida executed a Falcon Arrow, but Jay kicked out. Shida followed up with the Kitana knee strike, and the referee counted to three for the win, despite Parker awkwardly trying to slide in and break up the pin. ## WINNER: Hikaru Shida ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...

Roman Reigns Suffers Injury At SummerSlam, WWE Awaits Results Of Tests

Pensacola, 8 August 2023 - At SummerSlam on Saturday, Roman Reigns held onto his WWE Universal Championship by defeating Jey Uso in a match they call Tribal Combat. This was Reigns' fourth time defending his title this year. He's been the champ for about 1,070 days and he's not planning to let go of his title anytime soon. ## In the championship match, something unexpected happened. Jimmy Uso, who is Jey's brother, suddenly showed up and turned against his own kin. This surprise move from Jimmy gave Reigns the help he needed to keep his title. ## According to the latest report from Dave Meltzer, Roman Reigns got hurt early during his match with Jey Uso at SummerSlam. The severity of the injury is unknown but he is scheduled to be at At SmackDown on Friday. ## "He's gonna be back Friday. Roman Reigns got hurt in that match...I haven't watched the beginning of the match over again but I heard it was relatively early...I don't know the nature of the injury, I just heard he worked the match hurt. He got hurt early in the match. I don't know what his schedule is but he's going to be on the show Friday night. I would presume he's going to be on Survivor Series, I don't know that as fact," Meltzer said. ## As reported earlier, WWE will put on Payback and Fastlane in September and October respectively, and Reigns will reportedly be on neither show. With no mention of the WarGames concept in the poster, which was anticipated due to its introduction last year, fans are curious about its potential abandonment. ## Also, WWE is all set to come to Chicago for the 2023 Survivor Series at the Allstate Arena on November 25th. With the event coming soon, WWE recently released the first poster, which caused stress on social media. This could be because the poster doesn't feature Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...

WWE Denies Plans For Roster Cuts Amidst Acquisition Speculation

Stamford, 8 August 2023 - This year, there have been rumors about WWE releasing some of its roster members. These rumors seem to have come from unreliable sources. Fightful Select, a reputable source, talked to people within WWE, both staff and on-air talent, who hadn't heard anything about potential cuts.## Surprisingly, even after these rumors surfaced, there wasn't much backstage discussion about it. This suggests that WWE personnel weren't particularly concerned. The talk of roster cuts gained more traction in April when it was announced that Endeavor, the parent company of UFC, was in the process of buying WWE. ## This deal hasn't been finalized yet and is expected to be completed later this year. In recent years, WWE has made several rounds of roster cuts. This was especially noticeable after the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. During this time, the company released many wrestlers and staff members at once, which caused controversy. ## Some people criticized WWE for using the pandemic as an excuse for these releases, especially when the company was making a lot of profit. ## Interestingly, Fightful also points out that although there hasn't been an official announcement of a "hiring freeze" by WWE, it's noticeable that no new wrestlers have been hired for the main roster since December. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...

Cody Rhodes Weight Belts, Usos 'We The Ones' Shirts Among Top WWE Merch Sellers

Pensacola, 6 August 2023 - There's been a lot of talk about who's selling the most WWE merchandise. Fightful got some insights from recent live event listings. Cody Rhodes has been topping several of these lists, sometimes even getting multiple items in the top five. ## The dynamic changed quite a bit when The Bloodline split up. They used to be bundled together, which included Roman Reigns, the Usos, and all their Bloodline stuff. But now that's separated, and the Usos are doing exceptionally well, selling more than anyone except Cody Rhodes. ## Seth Rollins is a consistent presence in the top 5 lists. The report also sees Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley on some. Most of the time, the best-sellers are the standard WWE items – you know, things like title belts, tour shirts, and so on. Especially toy title belts – those fly off the shelves. Cody Rhodes' weight belts and the Usos' "We The Ones" shirts are also really popular among WWE fans. ## What's Next For Roman Reigns After WWE SummerSlam 2023 The big finish at SummerSlam was expected to be the peak of the Bloodline saga, but it took a twist and led us in a different direction. As the match was wrapping up, Jimmy surprisingly showed up and messed up his own brother's victory, maybe hinting at rejoining his cousin. Reigns looked caught off guard by Jimmy's move, but chances are Jimmy might fall back in line, at least for now. Another intriguing moment was the tension building between Reigns and Solo Sikoa. The youngest family member seemed to take offense at something Reigns did, but Jey's Spear cut that moment short. ## Reigns remains the top dog on SmackDown, and it's likely he'll hold onto that belt until at least 'Mania 40. The next task for WWE is making sure things stay interesting for the fans on the journey there. The first thing to tackle is what went down with Jimmy. WWE can stretch that story for a couple of weeks before figuring out who's up next to challenge for the Universal Championship. ## With Jey and Jimmy probably busy with their own issues, Reigns will need a new rival as we head into fall. Considering that Bobby Lashley seems to be forming a crew around him, it wouldn't be a shock if he aimed for Reigns and his universal title. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Wrestling News...
