Director Prashanth Neel Responds On People Calling 'Salaar' A Remake of 'Ugramm'
Bangalore, December 21 - Prashanth Neel is one of the most successful directors coming out of Kannada cinema. Still, despite that, he has always been under the scrutiny of the media and critics for his style of filmmaking as many of them think that he can't bring versatility to his filmmaking style and always stick to one pattern. ## Neel is gearing up for the release of Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, starring superstar Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The filmmaker is super confident that it will emerge as a big hit for him, however, at the same, there is a section of people that is trying to create negativity around the film by calling it the remake of Neel's "Ugramm". ## During a recent interview, Neel was asked if "Salaar" is the remake of "Ugramm", and his response shows his love for his passion and big screen cinema. "Ugramm was made for theatres. It was made for the cinema halls and I always had that pain. Not to take away anything from KGF, but the idea, the world-building, came to me from Ugramm. When Ugramm happened and I did not get what I wanted, I made a conscious decision that I was going to do something that would always fill the halls", he said (via Indian Express). ## The director further said that while he got what he wanted in the KGF series which was a massive blockbuster it is the subject of Ugramm that he wanted the world to see and now, he is exploring that idea by bringing newness to the story and is expecting to fulfil his deepest ambition. ## "I haven't filled cinema halls for that subject and instead of calling it a remake of Ugramm, I wanted to retell that story. I wanted to fill cinema halls and I am doing that on 22nd. Whatever people think, at the end of the day Ugramm is mine. It's not a point that I am trying to prove. I want to fulfil one of my deepest ambitions of filling theatres for that particular subject and that is what Salaar is. I have changed a lot of things. I don't care if people say this fellow cannot think beyond Ugramm and KGF", he added. ## The film is produced by Hombale Films and it is scheduled to release on December 22nd in Telugu along with the dubbed versions of Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil. ## Stay tuned...
