Hyderabad, January 14 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram has shown a good hold today compared to its second day at the domestic box office. Though the movie hasn't shown a big spike, it came on the positive side of yesterday's collection, which is good. ## According to early estimates, the action drama film scored around 14-15 crores net (16-17 crores gross) collection on its first Sunday, pushing the total collection to around 69 crores net (81 crores gross) after the first 3-day opening weekend. ## Despite the mixed reviews, the film didn't drop, which can be seen as a positive trend and the same is expected over the next couple of days during the Pongal holidays. The hold in coming a few days is a must otherwise the film might struggle to get going post-holidays. ## Meanwhile, the sensational blockbuster of the season, Hanuman has shown a further spike on its third day, both in Telugu and Hindi versions. According to early estimates, the superhero movie scored 15-16 crores net (18+ crores gross) collection on its first Sunday, jumping around 25% from its second day. ## In Hindi, Hanuman minted 6+ crores net while the Telugu version scored 9+ crores net, as per the estimates. Hyderabad, January 13 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram, after a very good opening of over 41 crores net, is showing a big drop on its second day which could be a concerning factor for the film in the going ahead. ## The movie did manage to do well on its first day due to star power despite the mixed word of mouth but that came into play on the second day as it scored an estimated 13-14 crore net (15-16 crore gross) with a drop of around 70%. ## The drop in collection is a bit heavy even though the first day was huge and theatres also decreased due to the release of Saindhav and the strong performance of Hanuman but the holiday period is going on so the drop should have been under or around 50% which is normal for Telugu movies. ## The total Guntur Kaaram after two days is around 54 crores net (64 crores gross) which is a good number overall but it needs to hold extremely well in the coming days to reach even close to its break-even target which is around 170 crores gross domestically. ## Meanwhile, director Prashanth Varma's superhero movie Hanuman, which was released with Guntur Kaaram, has shown a big jump in collection on its second day. The movie took an opening of approximately 12.20 crores net, including 4.15 crores paid premieres, which is very good considering the release size. ## On its second day, Hanuman is showing a jump of over 50% for an estimated 12+ crores net (14+ crores gross) in Telugu and Hindi. The collection could go higher depending on the performance of the single screens. The Telugu version collected around 8.50 crores net while the Hindi version minted approximately 3.50 crores, as per estimates. ## The Hindi version of the film could be a game-changer going ahead as word of mouth is super positive which is already showing its effect after the first two days. Chennai, January 12 - Tamil star Dhanush's long-awaited period action drama Captain Miller has been released in theatres today to take the advantage of Pongal holidays. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie did well on its opening day despite competition. ## According to early estimates, Captain Miller scored around 8 crores net in the original Tamil version. The dubbed Hindi version minted an estimated 50 lakh while the Kannada version scored just 5 lakh for all India 8.50+ crores net (10 crores gross) opening. The initial word of mouth seems to be positive which should come into play over the festive weekend. ## Another Tamil release of the day, Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi Ayalaan scored an estimated 4 crores net (4.75 crores gross) collection on its opening day. Directed by Trivikram, the movie was anyway going to start with a bang due to star power. ## According to early estimates, Guntur Kaaram is heading for a 42+ crores net (50 crores gross) opening in India which is excellent. In AP/TG, the movie scored an estimated 44+ crores gross, which is again huge though it failed to beat Babu's last film "Sarkaru Vaari Paata" which scored 50 crores gross on opening day in AP/TG and 55+ crores all India start (as per estimates, final collection awaited). ## Guntur Kaaram's final opening day gross can be headed to 50+ crores, depending on the performance on the single screens. The movie had a good first week domestically with approximately 160 crores net, before it dropped a bit heavily, around 71% in the second week and now in the third week, it has another drop.## Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the social comedy-drama witnessed a drop of around 65% and scored approximately 15.25 crores net in its third week.
